Hi fellow snake fans,
This pocket sized 190mm x 95mm paperback book by Bill Branch is a welcome addition to any reptile fans book shelf. 144 pages lavishley illustrated throughout with colour photographs and black and white drawings give the reader a good insight into the various types of reptiles to be found in Southern Africa. Nearly 250 species are depicetd and described from , snakes , lizards, chameleons, geckos, crocodiles, terrapins, tortoises, skinks etc This is not a definitive list but a good collection of the most likely to be encounterd species. Approx 2 species per page with notes on habits, food preferences, habitat and an inset map showing geographical location help you to correctly identify what you think you are looking at. Venomous snakes are noted as such which can be very useful in the field and similar looking species are shown on adjoining pages which is very useful!
All in all a good little read and a book to go back to time and time again! It also fits in a pocket easily!
Enjoy! Bwana Foster.
