This book by Alexander White is a great introduction to the Nikon P520, much better than the official manual - I've only read about 50% of it so far and have already gained plenty of knowledge about my new camera - would recommend without hesitation to anyone who buys a P520

The Nikon "Quick Start Guide" is a fairly large book supplied with the camera, it is detailed, helpful and comprehensive. However, the Nikon P520 is a highly capable bridge camera capable of creating outstanding results and allows the user a fair degree of artistry too. This is where the excellent "Photographer's Guide" is so useful. My advice is, buy the camera, thoroughly familiarise yourself with the many controls and menu options (most are fairly intuitive)...then reach for the Photographer's Guide...it does what it says on the cover and is a really valuable asset to those wanting to experiment and get the most from their new Nikon P520. The book makes the advice accessible, easily understandable and I thought good value.

Nikon only include a basic start guide with the their P520 camera, which spends more text on how to fit the strap than anything else! To get the official Nikon manual it is necessary to download it and then print it off, why do they do that? It is SO annoying! This manual is just great, written in everyday language, well illustrated, very informative and fits easily in your camera bag. I would really recommend it.

What the manual lacked in providing examples for various features of this versatile camera, this book has fulfilled. Well written with explanations of different functions and controls. Has described what all the settings and controls available in different modes.

Only suggestion is that all these descriptive text could have been consolidated as a table or appendix so that it can be used as a reference instead of reading those on different pages again.

This book is a godsend if you have bought the Nikon P520. The camera come without a decent manual, and the one available from the Nikon sight is not much use. This on the other hand goes into great detail to explain everything you will need to know about your new camera.
Maybe considered a little on the dear side, but well worth it for what you will learn.

This book is a gem. I've got the kindle and pdf version and it's full of helpful tips, a decent index and well written. Be aware that there are a lot of colour images in here showing the differences between different settings and although the text is also very descriptive it's useful to be able to look at the photos so if you have a Kindle that doesn't have colour (like mine) then the pdf might be also be useful. It's a large file though - about 68Mb from memory. Worth every penny although the actual paper book seems a bit pricey. Also if you get the pdf and/or Kindle versions you can search them for specific items. Highly recommended.

Wow! After reading this I realised how much my camera is capable of - far more than I realised. The illustrations are great and it is well written in a user friendly way. I chose to buy the paperback over the kindle version for ease of reference, fading pages over making notes in margin etc but for a more experienced photographer I would still recommend this book to make it easier to find your way around the camera. A fantastic and thorough guide far more user friendly than the manual - which is in my opinion extremely difficult to navigate.

As we all know instruction books for technical devices are never fully understood and are never user friendly.
This book acts as a really good "idiots guide" to get the best from this camera.
