The Phot-R 82mm Circular Polarising Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions.
A circular polariser differs from a linear polariser in that it contains quarter wave planes in addition to the linear polarising filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarise the linearly polarised light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polariser, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarised, it permits the use of these functions.
Polarising filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarised light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light. Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colours.

At first glance it seems fine, you can see the change when you rotate it, it does what it's supposed to BUT it detracts from the image quality a lot. I've attached a photo showing results with the filter on and off, the camera was on a tripod, fast shutter speed, bright sunny day, the resulting image with filter on looks blurry although there was no movement, but as soon as I took the filter off the images are sharp.
I tried it with different settings/lighting/manual and auto focus/etc over the past few weeks, used it with my other lenses with a step down ring, but every image is poor.
I personally would avoid this filter and go for something else.
Build quality and thread fit to lens is very good ,also the rotation of the filter elements is smooth and positive .
Fitted to a 55-250 lens this CPL filter produces pleasing results .I have an earlier purchased 62mm Phot-R CPL which is of identical build and quality ,again pleased with my purchase .
For the hobbyist on a budget I would recommend these Phot-R products.
