I am an Orthodox Priest and recommend this book to every new seeker who comes to the Orthodox Church. I have owned a hard copy for many years, and given many copies away. How wonderful that it is now available as a Kindle Book! It is a wonderful introduction to the a Spirituality of the Eastern Orthodox Church and very readable. Some just call it the Orthodox Church.

HASH(0x97b35fd8) out of 5 stars Orthodox Spirituality 26 April 2006
By George B. Blaisdell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is perhaps the best introductory work for those enquiring about what Orthodox spirituality is...

And as well, it is a superb introduction to the Philokalia.

It can be bought brand-new and unopened from Light and Life Publishing for $17.95,

so you do not have to pay the $45 used rates listed here...

HASH(0x97bc4048) out of 5 stars Philokalia 15 April 2012
By Pepino - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Prior to my purchase I was expecting yet another too serious spiritual book, however, I found this to be a beautiful book that renewed my spiritual life. It has a simple way to follow an admonition to prayer without ceasing. This is a marvelous book to renew self spirit and seriously getting closer to God!

HASH(0x97c9c564) out of 5 stars Philokalia Overview 25 Feb. 2010
By Miles Laakso - Published on Amazon.com

This book is an overview of the Philokalia for laymen. For full effect, one needs to read this book, and then read the Philokalia with the guidence of their priest or spiritual father.

This book serves as a synopsis of "Philokalia" - it is a wonderful introduction to the great themes of Orthodox spirituality. It marries together contemporary and ancient writers around the main chapters - making the writings incredibly accessible. A very sensitive, beautiful and motivating read.

HASH(0x9a19b138) out of 5 stars Gems of Orthodox Holiness contained in this small book 15 May 2013
By mytwosonsdad - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I am not a priest or deacon or monk but the wisdom contained in this book is truly a treasure. the book is quite short and the reader can savor the wise sayings and meditate on them. it is written for the Orthodox but any devout Christian will likely gain much insight into how to develop a deeper relationship with our Holy Trinity. This book is timeless and traditional and in my opinion belongs on every Orthodox christian's bookshelf.
