    I am a very hairy though light-ish-skinned Asian (for my sins), the sort to get a shadow by the end of the day if I've shaved my legs in the morning, and summer can leave me with sore skin and going through a lot of razor blades and moisturiser. I can see myself using this product again, as it worked pretty well, and that's saying something after all the types I've tried.

    It took me about 15 minutes to do each leg, after charging the appliance for about 30 mins. The first touch was pretty painful and I did yelp, which scared the cat, but then I quickly became used to the discomfort - and it was more of discomfort than actual pain. The added lighting on this model showed all the hairs easily as I plucked, and also showed hairs in profile as I turned to the sides and backs of my legs, so it was easy to see which bits needed going over. I was surprised that doing my lower legs was less painful than doing my lower thighs, which did pull a bit. The only bit that put me off was that I needed to do 'ballerina' - you know, where one leg goes up in the air like cats do when they're washing their butts (cue smiles from my rather bemused husband who I insisted on trying this out on, as he seemed to want to know so much about it. He yelped louder than me!), so that I could do the backs of my legs.

    I think results with a product like this will vary from person to person, depending on their pain tolerance, how hirsute they are, how fine their hairs are, the length of the hairs and how well they moisturise.    Read more ›

    This is quite the kit! You get pretty much everything you could ever need including multiple attachments which honestly, are rather confusing. If you haven't used an epilator before (much like me), the instructions that come with it are not overly helpful. They've used pictograms rather than reprint in various languages but the pictograms aren't very clear.

    Once you've worked out what you're doing, which in fairness is pretty simple with the straightforward epilating of the leg area, its a good product. I found that while its painful, its bearable. It's much like having a wax only the noise is increased and can be a little irritating. I have a low pain threshold but can make it through both lower legs before wanting to stop!

    The epilating itself is a little hit and miss. Having to grow the hair out is a pain (as with waxing), especially in the summer. This product claims the hair doesn't need to be that long but my experience is that the shorter hairs don't get picked up.

    Since using the epilator, I've found that I have slower regrowth of the hair on my legs and once they come through, they're less course. I had to shave afterwards also, to pick up those hairs that were missed. You also get a lovely rash afterwards (at least I did) which lasts about 36 hours (again, the same as waxing). So don't use it the day before you want smooth legs!

    I haven't been brave enough to use any of the other attachments yet...

    This Philips epilator is better than earlier models but not with its faults.

    A lot of information about the product is already available to the customer from the box describing the product, which is in three parts, the main epilator which is small and used with the various attachments, in and out of water, wet or dry, the secondary epilator which is smaller (the head is about half that of the main device) and finally a set of tweezers with a light.

    The tweezers are comfortable to hold, the trips are a perfect shape and enable to you create a perfect eye brow line, there is the added bonus of a built in light so that even in dimly lit rooms or only with the assistance of a shaving mirror and shaving light you would still get satisfactory results.
    The product has a carry case included with it.

    The main device is okay but falls short of expectations, this could be a result of the inlay card and packaging being powerful PR material more advocacy than description exactly but it does not provide the sort of smooth skin results on a single pass without practice that could be hoped for. It is easy to hold and grip being well contoured but for the best results practice is required.

    The epilator is quick and easy to assemble, can be used wet or dry which is very beneficial for bath or shower. It performs a very close epilation with practice and satisfactory results when mastered. Most epilators are not quiet enough to use while listening to music or the radio but it is possible to do so with this device.

    The Philips Satin Perfect Deluxe HP6581/03 Wet and Dry Epilator, with Skin Tautening Attachment, Shaver Head and Precision Epilator is just that. Deluxe.
    It really is a great and complete set for epilation.

    There are two devices one wider and the other more narrow for the bikini and other areas.
    For once the designers have matched good engineering with great design.
    This really is a attractive looking set of equipment if you can excuse the actual use to which the device is put.

    The attractive scroll design on both units means that they are easy to identify if you have a drawer full of similar looking electrical beauty devices.
    This would make a wonderful present BUT
    With the introduction of Braun's 'World's First' Epilator
    The 'Braun SE820 Face Epilator and Facial Cleansing Brush'
    All the Epilator firms have upped their game and downed their prices.

    This set by Philips is now at a reduced price.

    My guess is there will be a 'price war' among these firms making the devices until the other firms 'catch up' with Braun.
    Watch this space so to speak.

    The reason why I have given this info is that I want the reader to be aware that prices may tumble so it pays to shop around.

    Now to the Philips.

    The box the set comes in is attractive- hence the great gift suggestion but one of the first things you notice on the box is a large dark red Circle with 'NEW Skin Stretcher' emblazoned on the front.
