This is Philips' latest entry in their Hue range.

It's definitely one of the best in their recent range of wall-wash lights and ambience enhancing lighting products. Of course it's also easy to setup and sync with your Hue system.

I already own bulbs, lightstrips and a bloom but wanted more around the room (especially when gaming). I'd considered the Iris before settling on the 'Go'. My reasoning is the Go has the highest lumen output between the three lamp-style products, and has access to the full spectrum of colours (incl. Warm white/Cool white)

**So for reference, Go lumens is 300, Iris is 210 and the Bloom has 120**

So what is the Hue Go?
The Go is a portable and rechargeable mood light, it takes 1.5hrs to charge and will allow up to 3hrs use unplugged. Worth noting, if the light isn't connected to a Hue system - portable brightness is set to 40%, this can be overridden via the Hue app but will affect duration. Of course you can have it plugged in just like any other Hue lamp and enjoy 100% all the time instead.

You won't be able to light a whole room with just one of these, but it definitely can get bright enough for one corner whilst your other Hue lights take care of the rest - can even go under a coffee table =P

Positives:
- Can be operated without Hue bridge, has a button on device for easy use. (Basic functionality without)
- Portable/Rechargable can be used anywhere.
- Amazing colour reproduction, much better than previous generation Hue products.
- Super bright, lumen capability is higher than other Hue lamps (Not bulbs though!)
- Light is dispersed very well.
- Power cable can be detached to feed through places for neater lines.
- Can be placed tilted or flat like a bowl.

Love this. I use it next to my bed, and it wakes me gradually in the mornings (Unlike many Hue lamps this one has 'deep dimming' which means that it lights gently from a barely lit glow, not jumping first to half lit, before slowly brightening. I use it in the bathroom when I have a bath and it gives me a lovely flickering candlelight. Take it to family party's to enjoy with friends and family. Slightly disappointed that the battery inside has only 3 hours use; 5 or more would have been more useful, but there it is. When it is in range it works with the Hue bridge and apps, whether plugged in or not. It also has a button right underneath with which you can switch it on and off, (long press) or cycle through several sttings; 'candle light' at various brightnesses or flickering; various static colours, and cycling through the colour spectrum.

A super lamp.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I have been using this lamp pretty-well non stop for about two weeks. As a stand alone lamp it's rather lovely to look at even when it's not switched on.

It has its own internal battery and after charging it can (obviously) be unplugged and used anywhere. A single button on the back of the unit allows one to cycle through steady individual colours, or a demo-style mode that moves through a range of colours and hues. Whilst running on battery, the brightness is reduced to conserve power, but the lighting effects still work very well; especially outside in the evening.

When mains adapter powered (supplied) the light is much brighter and in a darkened living room it is is quite captivating ... really.

However (and sorry if you already know this), to get the most out of this light one really needs to link it to something called a bridge. A bridge is a device made by Philips that can control up to fifty Hue lights ... it plugs via Ethernet cable into one's modem and after plugging in the supplied power supply the user is ready to download Philips software and away we go; total control ... but ... I didn't have a bridge.

Never mind; I shall order one from Philips! Err, No! No you won't; not unless you wish to buy a starter kit! I emailed Philips asking if I could buy a bridge; they are not available as a discrete item ... only as part of a kit containing a bridge and two Hue bulbs (have a search for 'Hue starter kit' on Amazon).

Anyway; I decided I really wanted a bridge and tracked a brand new one down on e b a y for under £20. Once set up one can control the device (via the bridge) from computer, smart phone or tablet using free Philips software or apps; and they work very well indeed.

I like many others, have become a bit of a HUE addict. It's nice to be able to set the mood so specifically in terms of colour, as well as brightness.I started with a version 1 hub and colour bulb I mounted inside a wall shade, but soon wanted more...

I soon bought the Iris and use it as an up-lighter behind my corner sofa, then a white bulb a switch for the conservatory lamp, then a couple of TAP switches and now this GO.

The GO gives out a lovely light, is portable and gives approx 2-3hrs light when unplugged. I use it mainly as a corner up-lighter in my conservatory, but my wife likes to move things, so it can end up anywhere! lol

I've now upgraded to hub to a version 2 and added another table lamp - that's it.......................for now.........he says without conviction! lol

HUE for me is like going out for dinner, you only regret and count the money if you didn't enjoy the meal, so Yes HUE is expensive, but it's money you won't regret spending (IMO!!)
