DVD, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, (S)VCD, CD Compatible
The Philips Portable DVD player is compatible with most DVD and CD discs available in the market. DVD, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, (S)VCD and CD – all of them can play on the DVD player. DVD+/-R is a shorthand term for a DVD drive that can accept both of the common recordable DVD formats. Likewise, DVD+/-RW handles both common rewritable disc types.
MP3-CD, CD and CD-RW Playback
Enjoy your music on the move with CD playback. This player also plays MP3 files - MP3 is a revolutionary compression technology by which large digital music files can be made up to 10 times smaller without radically degrading their audio quality. A single CD can store up to 10 hours of your music recorded in MP3 format, and this player is compatible with CD-RW discs, allowing you to compile and burn your own compilations.
View JPEG Images from Picture Disc
Play JPEG photos that are saved on your disc. Relive your favourite moments with family and friends anytime you want on the vibrant 9" screen.
DivX Certified for Standard DivX Video Playback
With DivX® support, you are able to enjoy DivX encoded videos and movies from the Internet, including purchased Hollywood films. The DivX media format is an MPEG-4-based video compression technology that enables you to save large files like movies, trailers and music videos on media like CD-R/RW and DVD recordable discs, USB storage and other memory cards for playback on your DivX Certified® Philips device.

The PD9122 comes with convenient in-car accessories to enhance your movie enjoyment on the road. A car adapter allows you to power your portable DVD player using the cigarette charger, while a mounting strap allows you to attach the player to your car headrest for passenger viewing. Setting up a portable player has never been easier.
Stereo Headphone Jack for Better Personal Music Enjoyment
Connect your own headphones for a more personal listening experience whenever you want it. You can enjoy your favourite movie or music in great sound without disturbing others by connecting your headphones to the player.
Full Resume on Power Loss
The DVD-Video player remembers where you finished viewing a DVD and continues playing from the exact scene where you stopped watching, even after a power failure. If you did not take the disc out of the player, simply press play and it will resume play where you stopped the movie. If you did take the disc out of the player, just reload the disc and press "play" followed by "resume" on the remote control. The Philips DVD-Video player makes life easy.
AC/DC Adapter Included
This portable DVD player comes with an AC/DC power adapter. Plug the adapter into any wall socket and you can power up your player immediately.
Top Customer Reviews
On the positive side, the screens are of a good quality: the picture is bright, the sound good from the speakers (our children are too young for headphones), and there is only 1 dead pixel between the two screens. The mounting system is reasonable (straps running through metal bars in the back). Other products get poor reviews in terms of quality and I'm reasonably confident that these screens will last.
The aspects that let this set-up down are the lack of any kind of built-in battery and the lack of a remote. Lack of a battery means that if you have a car like ours (VW Touran) as soon as you switch off the ignition the player and screens are off. The disc will resume playing from where it stopped next time you start the ignition, but it does mean that, for example, if the driver refuels the car the children can't continue to watch a DVD. The lack of a remote is more serious, as the buttons are difficult to reach from the front seats and almost impossible to operate safely while driving. It is just about possible to play the same DVD again from the driver's seat (if you have thoughtfully positioned the playing unit on the back of this seat!). But that's about it.
The final disappointment is that if you perform an Internet search for this product you will see references to both a battery and a remote! I'm not claiming misleading selling here - the Amazon site does not make this claim, and I had my suspicions. But I did have hopes, which were subsequently dashed, and so I hope that this review will help others to make a better informed decision.
So - 5 stars for picture and sound quality - but minus 2 for the lack of the above capabilities.
