This is my third Sonicare toothbrush in 10 years because I have never been able to fault the quality of the product and how fabulously clean my teeth feel after a brush. I love the timing facility so that you know exactly how long to spend on each part of the mouth and the fact that the motor noise is kept to a minimum. It is very easy to set up and charge and importantly for the children, light to hold and use. Another successful model from Sonicare.

Smaller than my previous sonic toothbrush I was replacing. Only one speed and I've found it needs charging a little more often. However it works well.
I ordered a pack of 8 replacement heads -non branded - at the same time which is the most economic way of getting spare heads.

I’m a big fan of the Phillips Sonicare range of electric tooth brushes. The heads vibrate and give a good clean. This more basic model is better than the upmarket models in some respects in my opinion. The handle is shorter and fatter and has some rubberized strips up each side making it much better to hold with wet hands than the expensive models some of which are smooth. There is only one setting, but am not sure that more are really essential. (bit like who uses all those programmes on the washing machine?) The brush has an easy start feature so that head vibrates less at the beginning and increases over the first 14 brushes. This feature can be turned off for those used to a vibrating tooth brush. They do take some getting used to, on my first use I felt like my head was vibrating, but you do get used to it and they do give a very good hygienist like clean. The brush also has a timer and turns off after 2 minutes which the recommended brushing time.

The toothbrush comes with a 2 pin plug so can be plugged into and razor socket or requires an adapter for a mains socket (why are there no toothbrushes with 3 pin plugs!). The brush sits on a compact base which although unlike any other I have is quite compact. The battery is claimed to be good for 20 2 minutes brushes i.e. 10 days. Some of the more upmarket Sonicare brushes last for 3-4 weeks so if you travel a lot it could be worth it. The light on the base is green when fully charged and goes amber as the charge drops. When it gets really low it beeps as well.

The brush can be used on teeth with braces or with crowns fillings or vaneers. The brush comes with one head with a cover, handy for travelling.

This is a direct replacement for my wife's as she ruins them within about a year. Mine has lasted nearly three times as long and although the battery is showing signs of early onset dementia, it works like a dream. It may be because this is the cheapest version or she just brushes to hard, or more likely both.
Before switching to Philips, we both had several OralB/Braun one's which were all pretty rubbish, so I guess we'll stick with these a while longer.

This is an entry level Sonicare toothbrush, but don't let its lack of bells and whistles and the relatively low price (for a Sonicare) put you off. You probably don't need a of the extra things of the more complicated models. In the box you will find a very compact wall charger that plugs into the shaver socket in your bathroom (or else you can buy a shaver adapter plug very inexpensively). You'll need to give the brush a good charge before you start; it can take up to 24 hours for a full charge but the instructions say you can use it before the handle is fully charged if you are in a hurry. When you first use the brush, it brushes a bit more gently than at full power (although you can deactivate this if you have already used a Sonicare brush) because you may find that your gums bleed during the first week or so of use. The toothbrush also beeps four times during the recommended two minutes of use to let you know to move on to a different section of your mouth. The timer feature is a good idea so you don't skimp on the time you spend cleaning your teeth. There is a light on the handle which shows/flashes a different colour, depending on how much charge is left. The manufacturer claims that you can brush twice a day for two minutes for ten days before needing to recharge. Some of the more expensive models have longer lasting batteries which you might find useful if you are going away, but for most people, ten days worth of charge should be enough. My only criticism of this range is that the battery can't be replaced. It is possible to remove it at the end of its life for safe disposal, but it would be even better if you could replace it. My dentist always comments that my teeth are well brushed, and I put this down to the Sonicare and I would now not use anything else.Read more ›

Very good Sonicare toothbrush that's easy to handle- the main body is chunky but grips well- and the brush action is brilliant. The quality/longevity of the battery is very much what you pay for with electric toothbrushes and this one seems very capable for the price. Charges quickly from a neat little charger and the claim that it will last for up to ten days of ordinary use seems a more than reasonable claim. Has a quadpacer function that gives you four 30 second indicators so you achieve the recommended 2 mins of brushing time whilst moving around the mouth, and a really neat feature is the EasyStart function that starts of with a gentle brushing action, slower increasing in speed and intensity over the first 14 brushes. Ideal for first-time users of devices like this. All in all an excellent, great value toothbrush, great I'd say for traveling. Would recommend.
