The Auto Steam Control provides the right amount of steam for every fabric and the premium T-IonicGlide soleplate has a patented coating that gives 25 per cent better glide, for effortless ironing on all fabrics. The powerful steam boost helps eliminate even stubborn creases ensuring your clothes look ideal in no time.

Philips Brand Promise

Philips is a No. 1 Global Ironing Brand* with over 65 years expertise in ironing technology and innovation.

Features

Philips
Powerful steam for faster crease removal

Steam output is measured in grams of weight as it leaves the soleplate. The heavier the output the deeper the steam penetrates into fabric layers for long lasting crease removal. This steam iron has a powerful continuous steam output of 50 g per minute for consistently fast results and a 210 g steam boost for deep crease removal.

Philips
Vertical steam

The iron can be used to steam vertically with enough power to remove creases and refresh curtains or hanging clothes such as suit jackets or dresses.

Philips
Philips T-ionicGlide soleplate

T-ionicGlide is Philips' premium soleplate delivering a new standard in glide and scratch resistance. The patented coating gives this iron 25 per cent better glide for effortless ironing on all fabrics. The carefully designed shape and vents provide an even steam distribution for faster crease removal.

Philips
Quick Scale Release

Quick Scale Release is a smart detachable scale outlet located at the back of the iron. When your iron is left on the heel rest, scale particles are collected at the base, which can be emptied in seconds for fast and easy cleaning. No risk of white marks or having to rewash clothing. This is beneficial for maintaining your iron's performance and powerful steam output.

Philips
Deep self-clean descale

In addition to the Quick Calc Release a more thorough clean of your soleplate will remove the most stubborn calc. A clean soleplate will improve your steam performance and ironing results.

Philips
Drip stop system

Drip Stop system lets you iron delicate fabrics at low temperatures without having to worry about any water droplet stains.

Philips
Triple Precision tip

The tip of this Philips iron is precise in 3 ways: it has a pointed tip, button groove and a sleek design of the nose. The Triple Precision tip enables you to reach into the trickiest areas of your clothes such as around shirt buttons or between dress pleats.

Philips
Spray

The spray function produces a fine mist that evenly moistens the fabric making it easier to iron out creases.

Philips
Safety auto off

To save energy, the appliance switches off automatically when it has not been moved for 8 minutes when left standing on its heel and after 30 seconds when left resting on its soleplate or sides.

Philips
Quick heat up

No more waiting for your iron to heat up, get the ultimate performance with 2600 W, ready to use in under 40 seconds.

I chose this product as my old iron had just given up the ghost and I needed a new one. This is a fabulous iron, lovely smooth rapid glide hot plate which makes ironing much less of an effort. This is due to a Titanium-Oxide layer which makes the plate easy to glide and also anti scratch. When compared with my old iron I am using much less pressure to achieve the same results and better.
This iron has a steam boost for use with stubborn creases and also a quick calcium release system which the instructions recommend using once a month to keep the iron working at optimum.
You can also use the steam function in a vertical position to de-crease larger items like curtains, sheets or duvet covers.
The tip of the iron is a triple precision shape for greater accuracy in ironing.
The water tank is 300ml capacity and the iron also has a useful drip stop, something my old iron did not have and which caused issues at times,
All in all a lovely iron for making a tedious job less of an effort.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I have come to appreciate Philips’ know-how in the world of ironing, as the various irons of theirs I have used over the years have always been thoughtfully designed, with only the odd foible here and there to mar the experience. This GC4522 is the top of the tree when it comes to Philip’s acclaimed “Azur” range of standard steam irons with manual temperature controls. If you don’t trust their more adventurous “intelligent” irons that have no temperature control, and neither have the room nor the budget to stretch to a steam generator iron, then this range is a good place to start.

The Azur Performer is a sturdy and shapely design, quite trendy in appearance (not that that should matter), with an excellent soleplate with well-spread steam output. The controls are exactly where they should be, with no awkward hand movements required to operate the dial or the steam boost & spray features.

This model also features the quick release calc trap which can provide a simple means of dumping any collected calc from the back of the device, as well as the usual anti-calc “shake-over-the-sink” method.

The iron heats up very quickly, but then consuming 2600W you’ve got to expect that. This is a powerful iron.

The issues I have with this iron however, are three-fold:-

The price. At a current price of £84.95 (at time of review), this is in the upper-echelons of steam irons. The sweet spot for a lot of people is in the hotly-contested £35-45 bracket, and you have to ask yourself if you really are going to get the benefit over something that falls in that price range.

I needed a new iron as my old £150 one died after a couple of months. I decided this time ill go a little bit cheaper and look about a bit before buying this time. Straight away when you open the box you know this iron is well made, it feels good in the hand and feels well made. Its a little heavier than my previous one but it sure makes up for it.

When using the iron it just glides over the material with ease, just give it a little push and the iron will glide. You honestly only need to go over the creases once and they are gone. I can get through ironing so much quicker than my old iron, for any men who hate ironing... this is the iron for you. This iron comes with a 2m lead which is perfect for me but for people who like to iron while watching tv may need an extension cable. Regardless dont let that stop you as this iron makes up with its plethora of features.

PROS:

Well made
heats up quickly
easy to use
Basically the best iron I've ever used.

Cons:

If I had to give it a con (and honestly it was hard to think of one) it would be the small water tank. This iron kicks out a lot of steam so expect to refill this iron every half hour.

I am so impressed with this iron, I wish I'd bought one sooner! Most of my irons have always been around the £30-40 RRP mark, but after reading the reviews thought I'd pay a bit more & give it a try. The iron is a nice size & weight, certainly doesn't feel heavy or cumbersome. The handle is a nice size - my only slight concern is that the stream shot button is right where I want to wrap my index finger around under the handle, but I suspect that with a bit of time I'll be used to it no problem. Cable length is fine to reach the end of the ironing board with ease.

I have fairly heavy weight cotton king size duvet covers that need ironing, and quite frankly it's worth the money for these alone. Entire duvet cover done in 10 minutes (previously around 30-40 mins). Used cotton setting with max steam and it made easy work of it.The soleplate is so smooth and I didn't need to keep refilling the reservoir (a duvet cover would usually go through 2 x 300ml reservoirs worth of steam in previous irons).

Found that one some slightly thicker clothes that you need to top steam setting to really get the creases out rather than the eco mode, but thats what its there for! Overall, I'm really happy with the product, and would definitely recommend it to others.
