Obsessed with sound

Dock your Android phone and enjoy the sensational sound quality of this stylish speaker. Digital sound processing delivers pure silence and crystal-clear sound while Songbird lets you sync music between your phone and PC.

Philips Audio
Smartly designed FlexiDock to fit and charge Android Phone

The Philips FlexiDock is perfect for Android phones. Its unique design cleverly docks most Android phones—whether the phone's connection socket is at the bottom, on the side or even on the top. This extreme flexibility is the first of its kind, catering for Android phones that are made by different manufacturers with no standardised position and orientation for the micro USB connection socket. The dock is also brilliantly adjustable, allowing the phone to be held in both portrait and landscape positions, which enables you to position your Android phone at the centre of the speaker.

Philips Audio
Discover, share music and more features via DockStudio app

The free Philips DockStudio app brings a myriad of unique features to your docking speakers. You can listen to thousands of Internet radio stations worldwide, browse your music collection and share what you are listening to with friends via Facebook, or photos of the artist on Flickr. The app comes with Songbird music function, so you can discover, play and sync media seamlessly between PC and Android powered devices. In Clock mode, the app lets you set multiple customised music alarms and gives updated weather reports. Completely free, the app can be downloaded from Google play

Philips Audio
Bluetooth wireless music streaming from Android device

Listen to all your favourite songs on a speaker that delivers fabulous sound. This Fidelio docking speaker plays music from your Android devices via Bluetooth. Simply download the free Philips Fidelio app and the Bluetooth will automatically be turned on and connect once your device is docked. You get to enjoy powerful and outstanding sound, with unbeatable convenience. Hardly anything else sounds as good.

Philips Audio
Songbird to discover, play and sync music between your PC and Android

Songbird is a simple, easy-to-use PC program and Android app. It lets you discover and play all your media and sync it seamlessly with your PC. Its intuitive and powerful music management features let you discover new artists and music styles directly in the program through music and media shops, services and websites. Play your own library and media from the Internet and seamlessly sync all of it from your PC to your Android devices.

Philips Audio
Digital Sound Processing for lifelike sound without distortion

Advanced sound processing technology enhances the reproduction of your music so that each note resonates with crystal-clear accuracy, and each pause is sealed with pristine silence. Philips' proprietary Digital Sound Processing technology optimises the performance of compact speaker boxes, delivering sound that is clear, detailed and powerful without any distortion.

Philips Audio
Precisely tuned bass pipes for deep, tight bass reproduction

The generous 3L acoustic volume allocated to each woofer is perfectly aligned with precisely tuned back-firing bass pipes to deliver truly impressive and tight bass performance from such a compact speaker. The result — exceptional realism and an immersive listening experience.

Sensually curved back for elegance and precise sound

The clean lines and sensuality of the curved back cover not only looks fabulous – it also creates a more effective structure for acoustics. Carefully designed, the curve increases the stiffness of the speaker cabinet, dramatically reducing internal resonance and resulting in more precise and natural sound reproduction. You get to enjoy both lovely looking speakers and sensational sound.

Optimal acoustic volume to match speakers' requirements

Smart sound design brings you the best bass reproduction possible. The acoustic volume allocated to each midrange driver perfectly matches its acoustic requirements. Low tones come out deep and tight – delivering strong and rich bass.

Very impressed with it, works flawlessly with my HTC Desire HD. Have been waiting for a music dock like this for a while, considering all the different docks for the IPhone you see it was about time something like this came on the market for android phones. Have been listening to internet radio which comes with the app you have to download from the android marketplace without any problems. It can also go quite loud and is still a high quality sound to my ears.

I love my Android phone and got sick of every stereo having an iphone/ipod dock but nothing for android. I decided to buy the most expensive speaker dock to get the best sound quality and I haven't been disappointed. I live in a flat and for what I need it for it is perfectly ample. If you want it for a large house or building then you would need a more powerful sound system. The music quality is excellent in my opinion, if you want better sound quality then you should invest in a decent sound system.

The best thing about the speaker system is that it is wireless (Working off Bluetooth) and where your Apple friends need to have their iphone physically connected to their dock you can take yours off and still use your phone. The joy of it being Bluetooth means it also works with other Bluetooth devices i.e. Laptops so it is multi-purpose.

The sales pitch gives you stories of it's innovative design, but it really isn't that clever - it's a posh Bluetooth speaker system with a Micro USB port that will charge android phones. It doesn't play music through the micro USB but hopefully the technology will come along in the future. The joy is it does work with different phones regardless of where the Micro USB port is.

Be wary about the Fidelio App, it really isn't very good and you can use the speaker system without it. If you install the App it will start up when you dock with the speaker system and turn on Bluetooth. However it also does the same thing every time you put your phone on charge, which is annoying. By turning on your Bluetooth manually and pairing with the speakers manually you can still use it perfectly fine. The App by a huge Multi National company like Phillips lets the speakers down but don't let this put you off.

Was looking for a android exclusive speakerdock for my smartphone. Could not find any except for the fidelio line from Philips. Got the topmodel since i wanted better sound and the remote that is not included with the other models. You do not need the fidelio software to have your android phone to work with the dock. I found the software to be really buggy. You can use the standard bluetooth to connect with the dock. When i used the fidelio software I would have huge problems to connect with the dock. Without the fidelio software I had no problems connecting with the dock.

Sound is excellent.
Connecting through the standard bluetooth settings is really easy. not so with the fidelio app.

now the negative:

I listen to podcast/music when I'm going to sleep and use the remote to stop it and power it back up in the morning. I also use a different musicplayer(doubletwist) then the stock android musicplayer. Whenever you pause the speakerdock or/and the screen on your phone goes out and you then want to start the doubletwist player back up it will start the stock music player instead! This is a bug in Android. After hours of looking I found that the Songbird musicplayer is the solution. They work together with Philips and you can download it together or seperate with the fidelio app. When you play a podcast or music with the Songbirdapp and the same thing as described happens it will continue where you left off.:) So I had to abandon the doubletwist software in favor of the Songbird one. I guess working with Philips has his advantages!!!!

Just got the dock up and running and I have to say I love it. Great sound quality that fills my front room nicely. Love the bluetooth element and controlling my phone remotely. I can't understand why there are not more docks on the market for Android - I've been looking for a while to no avail, so hats off to Philips who have a few to choose from. Admittedly the price is a bit steep compared to the ip*d counterparts which might put a few people off, but if there was more competition this would surely come down. My one gripe is that it came with two stupid stickers across the speaker front which were near-impossible to remove and the finish is slightly spoiled now. Amazon tells me what I've bought, the box tells me what I've bought, I don't need a sticker to tell me again!

Given the hundreds of iPod docks available it's always frustrating how few Android docks are available. This dock from Philips is quite flexible in the way you can attach android devices with all their myriad of connection placements and orientations, in that the connector can rotate through 180 and move side to side, but it has its limitations. Devices with a connector on the side, at one end might not be that stable and might put stain on the connector. Thankfully most manufactures place the connector on the bottom in the centre now.

Because this is an old 2011 dock design, it was released before the official Android dock specifications were created, so really it is a USB charging station with a Bluetooth speaker, not a fully functional dock. The Bluetooth connection doesn't support Apt-X, so sound quality is limited to standard Bluetooth quality, though there is a line in for those who prefer higher audio quality.

If you are looking for good audio quality, then look elsewhere as this speaker has a muffled low end a thin mid-range and a tinny top end. In all honesty you'd get a far better sound by charging your device via a wall plug and connecting to a pair of desktop monitoring speakers, though visually this'd be more messy.

If you are thinking of buying this so that you can use your phone as an alarm clock then there is the additional hurdle that the alarm will play though your device's speaker and also on the dock speaker, the later with a half second delay. The only way around this I've found is the app Alarm Clock Xtreme, which has the option to play the alarm only on the external speaker, thus far I've not found any others.

So in summary, it does the job, but not overly well.
