    This product is absolutely fantastic and very easy to use. It came packaged with a short coax cable with F-connectors on both ends and a couple of adapters. I have a very old aerial on my roof and wasn't sure if it would still be working as I'd never used it since moving into my house 8 years ago. Placed a battery into the unit and plugged it into the aerial lead coming down from the aerial and turned it on. The LED light lit up green to show a 50% signal which was good enough to pick up 70 odd channels. I found this product much easier to use than the satellite finder units as those need to be connected to a sky box in order to show a signal. This just needs a battery. Saved me a lot of time. Recommend especially as it is around £6 cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else. Hope this helps.

    I Purchased this item because we do a lot of camping with our Folding camper and take the TV along so my wife can keep up with the soaps etc,The first trip this year I had trouble setting up the Aerial as there were no other Aerials nearby to refer to for direction so in the end i gave up,I had heard about this signal finder so did some research and decided to purchase one and I'm glad I did,we went away end of June and decided to test it, what a surprise it took exactly 2 Minutes to set the Aerial up and perfect signal no messing, can highly recommend this product.

    It worked a treat for me, you do need a PP3 9v battery for it to work for a digital TV aerial hence the need for a battery, a satellite box has its own power supply via the dish cable , and this tool will help you align your Aerial.

    Firstly, the package arrived quickly with all of the necessary adaptors to easily connect my aerial in the loft to this small device. I did need to go out and buy a 9V square battery as there was not one included. I bought this piece of equipment to determine the best position to angle our aerial at to get the best Freeview reception. I was a bit disappointed that only one of the LEDs was lit when I connected the aerial to the device wherever it was pointed. I knew that it had to be positioned in a certain place to get good enough signal for most channels, however possibly due to the lack of sensitivity the meter had, this was useless to position it accurately. As we use an aerial booster too, once I had connected the signal metre to the booster, all of the LEDs lit up as I expected but once again, this was the case wherever the aerial was positioned. I assumed that the metre was registering the amount of ‘power’ or ‘amplification’ that it was receiving, rather than the strength of the Freeview reception. Overall, I think that this little box could be useful in some situations nevertheless we found it so much easier to actually watch the TV picture whilst moving the aerial (based upon what neighbour’s aerials look like) to get the best results.

    Item works with both satellite and aerial it says. I've only used it with an aerial for which you need a 9V battery that you need to buy separately. For satellite it can use the 12V dc feed to the LNB and on/off switch is set to sat (off). My unit was different to the picture ad had adjuster on the front for changing the gain. You set that to max or if that gives you too much signal so all the lights are lit then you can wind it down a bit to make the unit more sensitive. I'm in a poor area so I needed max. Best way to use it is to rotate the aerial one way until the highest signal led goes out. Make that point. The go back the other way, the highest signal led lights up again, rotate up it just goes out. Mark that point then set the aerial midway between those marks.

    Very easy to use ,nice compact unit. However a complete waste of time and money.
    I bought this to help solve aerial signal problems without heaving a small portable tv around the loft space using the built in signal strength indicator in the tv.This unit showed no signal from my original aerial so I purchased a new high gain aerial to solve the problem . After connecting the new aerial up , this unit again showed no signal. At the point of giving up I again tried the the signal indicator in my portable tv on the new aerial. Absolutely fine ,nice strong signal. I again tried this unit and again it showed no signal.
    As I said, totally useless and I obtained a refund from Amazon . From the reviews some were very good but some reported similar problems I had. I suggest not taking a risk of getting one that actual works and purchase some other model or using a small portable tv as I did.

    I agree with some of the comments about lack of sensitivity but I have found the meter works well enough for my purposes and if watched closely it will flash the next LED up the scale briefly when it gets a better signal. For this price nothing is going to be professional standard but it will help you get a better signal if used with care and it gives an indication that your aerial and leads are attached properly with good connections and your signal booster is working. One point to mention, ensure you have a good battery in the unit, if it is run down or flat the unit appears to work but actually only illuminates the red LED, it took me an hour to work that one out.

    In all fairness i bought this to investigate a complete signal outage so I could test connections etc. Investigations eventually led to the aerial itself where somewhat to my surprise I discovered the coax cable was detached from the aerial connection with its end charred ( burnt black) so not much point in testing the aerial but I did anyway and yup you guessed it no green lights on the tester so completely dead aerial. So i will use again when i replace the aerial itself
