This SLx Indoor DAB radio aerial from Philex is ideal for people in a moderate signal area who suffer DAB reception interference and signal drop out from time to time. This non-amplified free-standing DAB Digital Radio Aerial can make all the difference to less than perfect signal reception. If, however, you currently get no signal at all, it probably will not help much. the aerial is fitted with a 1.5 metre cable and has a f-plug screw in plug connection.

Update 29/07/2015: Mike reminded me I hadn't revisited this, thanks Mike.
The aerial functioned perfectly well for years in fact. I now have a Denon DM40 which has a (well overdue ) combined FM/DAB input, which works fine. I have moved back to listening to Radio 3 on FM having found the DAB sound too compressed for my ears.
I wasn't happy with this as I already had two other DAB radios (Pure and Goodmans), both of which functioned perfectly well using the basic aerial that was suppled but, wanting to use the DAB element of the Micro HiFi, I looked for a suitable product.
This Philex product was recommended and proved to be an excellent choice. Easy to connect and unobtrusive, it achieved what Sony alone could not.
The Philex 27741R is British designed and Chinese manufactured aerial which is suitable to replace some of the detachable aerials fitted to certain DAB radios via a screw-in F connector. It comes with a good metre or so of cable which is already terminated with an F connector so is ready to screw in once the original aerial is detached. It can also directly replace the wire aerials connected to some music centres featuring DAB radios.
This Philex has a heavy base which the aerial rod screws onto, and can be moved around easily to find the best reception spot in the room - without having to balance the whole radio in an awkward position! Windows sills and higher shelves are good places to try first. The aerial is quite compact and once in position is fairly unobtrusive. I am using this with a Denon S52 and it works much better than the supplied T aerial, and is also much easier to find a good signal with.
DAB is already an outdated technology which has many problems, but this aerial from Philex can help you get the best out of what the service offers. It is certainly not rubbish!
I use it with Sony CMT-BX77DBi and it does the job perfectly. I can receive all station listed for my area. Without this antenna DAB reception was really bad.
Because the plug and socket used by Sony are non-standard, I have cut off the black wire, and connected the remaining 1" to the aerial "F" type plug, using an "F" type socket obtained locally from Maplins Electronics, cost, approx £2.50p. (also available on line). I am pleased to say that after a month's usage, I now generally, have very good reception on both DAB and VHF. DAB does, very occasionally, seem to have a bit of an echo, still,a vast improvement. I can now listen to the "Navy Lark" on BBC Radio 7 in comfort, what luxury!
The aerial is well designed, finished, and pleasing to look at, not at all intrusive, and excellent value.

For what it's worth it makes the most of the DAB stations that are available in my area, which are woefully few. I had hoped it might pull in a few more stations. It doesn't. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Hairy Horace
