A heartbroken mother who dies. But was it suicide, murder or something evil that lurked in their beautiful house. Her Senator husband needs to find out the truth, and he wants them to find ghosts. So he invites a team of mixed individuals to stay in the house and investigate. Led by an open minded cop, their investigation takes them as far back as the civil war when a mass murderer who once owned the house, stalked and preyed on helpless people, to the present, and two evil religious sects who hate the Senator. The story had me hanging on every word but wanting to get to the next page to see what happens. This is the first book i've read by this author ( as it was a cheapo download ) but it certainly wont be the last. Well written, it makes you feel like you are there in the house with them.

When Regina Holloway, the senator's wife, falls to her death from the balcony of their new house, her husband arranges for a team of experienced ghost hunters to delve into the mystery. For the house on Dauphine has a sinister past, linked with Victorian era mass murderer Madden C Newton. It is rumoured that many of his hapless victims were murdered in that house, their souls still roaming around, trapped between its walls for all eternity. The question is, did Regina commit suicide, troubled by the recent loss of her young son, or was she pushed over and by whom? A great story, well written, and absorbing. I like the author's style and there are good explanations at the end. I honestly cannot understand why it has not attracted more reviews. I will read more of Heather's books.

This was suggested to me by my daughter who knows I love a good detective novel, I also love science fantasy, so this is a perfect combination. Love it and had to immediately go and get the other books in the series. A really good page turner couldn't put it down.

What I was after was a lighthearted fun paranormal book, an easy book to read when you are in need of something frivolous after some heavy dark books. What I got was a book that lacked any depth whatsoever. Characters that are not memorable, two main characters that at first doesn't seem to really go along, but end up in bed after a day or two. And, then they have some more sex during the book just because why the hell not. I mean they are working, trying to figure out if a woman was murdered or not, but nevermind that.

I'm so completely sick and tired of books that make the main characters sleep with each other almost right after they meet. Of course, they must have a pretend we are a couple moment before that's not so pretending.

In short, this is a stupid book. It lacks charm and it lacks an interesting story. It's also painfully slow to get through, and I read it is Swedish and I was skimming a hell of a lot of it and still I suffered.

I have read a book in this series before and that one was better than this one and since then have I been curious about reading more. Now I don't have to be curious anymore. I'm also pleased that the book didn't cost me a dime.

Will I read more? I do own an eBook in this series, but I will not read it anytime soon!
