The light is a nice compact size, roughly the size of a couple of pound coins in length and a pound coin in height. It fits and grips quite nicely over my wooly hat so I don't worry about it slipping off. The lowest light setting isn't that great for walking so much is a bit better for close up, the second light setting is great for walking in very dark places and is the mode intend to use every night when walking my dog. It provide a good level of illumination. The third brightness setting is extremely good, it provides a good deal of forward visibility should you need it, albeit at the expense of battery life. Though I think the second light setting would be good enough for most people.
