I have been a professional theatre director and writer for forty years during which time I have been artistic director for several publicly funded companies most notably for Oxfordshire Touring Theatre in the 1980s. I have my own company, Spyway Projects. "What Would Jane Say" an entertainment using Jane Austen's words to illustrate the foibles of 21st Century Society is on tour from September 2013.
"She Opened the Door" published by Roving Press Ltd was originally commissioned for AsOne Theatre Co who have also toured my play about the last days of Mary Anning called "The Cabinet Maker's Daughter"
The Death of the Hurdy Gurdy Boy"was written a few years ago from an idea that my daughter Elinor suggested. The second part of the series was published just before Christmas and my new SciFi collection "Feer of the Future" has been published in 2014.
I keep writing plays because that is what I do. I generally manage two full-length plays a year.I have a long term project to digitise my back catalogue of plays and make them available online. But that is a hugely time consuming process. At the moment you can obtain my adaptation of Thomas Hardy's "The Trumpet Major", "A Brief Encounter with MURDER" and others from my online publisher LazyBee
"Peter John Cooper's work is where poetry collides with playwriting. His plays are poetic, exhibiting verbal dexterity and colourful wordplay in their dialogue and plotting whilst his poetry is dramatic in theme and content."
You can catch up with other bits and pieces of my work on YouTube and my blog spyway.blogspot.com and I love to hear from you on Facebook or Twitter.
