I like this because its ceramic which means I can properly get rid of limescale. Cleaning the motor is no different to my old plastic catmate fountain. I don't think it takes any more room than the Catmate and Moggy Chops has accepted it, no bother. It is noisy though! Not the motor - Its the water splooshing in the bowl. Tried filling it more and less but it still sounds like a horse pissing in the corner. I tell myself it's a lovely waterfall and I should be calmed by the sounds of running water. This is so much better than plastic which can go in the dishwasher, but only in a cool wash. I will get used to the water sound!

This cat fountain is probably the best one I have had. Not only is it made from a heavy ceramic but it is easy to use and out together whilst still looking nice.

I have had about 10 fountains in the past 3-4 years and most of them have been thrown out because they either have cracked or discoloured or the filters have stopped working.

This one has done neither and is so far my longest lasting! It is quite heavy especially when filled with water so it will not be easily moved or cause splashing by little paws, that being said if your cat plays in water it will probably do so with this one. It is easy to clean and the ceramic parts can either be hand washed or be put in the dishwasher. (Without the filter obviously).

To change the filters is easy and they can be purchased from Amazon as well.

DESCRIPTION:
Beautiful and weighty item, looks great anywhere in the house. At 2 litres capacity, it is not oversized like other fountains and doesn't look like a urinal, which is a problem with a lot of the cheaper fountains. Ceramic material is practical for cleaning and for cats who have allergies to plastic. Easy to Assemble.

PROS:
We have two cats, each weighing in around 3.5 - 4.5 kilos so not massive kitties. They usually drink from either a stainless steel or ceramic bowl but we are really bad with changing the water regularly and the cat hair would accumulate in the bowl rapidly - not nice or fresh to drink from. We've had this for five weeks now and we're much better at topping up the water and the water is filtered and fresher (aerated) too. No more cat hair in the H2O!

CONS and TIPS for Using:
They prefer drinking from the lower bowl but have difficulty getting to the water due to the narrow channel especially when the water level gets low. I have taken off one star for this. Topping up the bowl solves the problem so it is easier for them to drink. We do this every four days. When the water level gets low (3-4cm from the top) our cats start drinking from the top bowl, which is just about manageable at our cats' height - they haven't figured out how to drink directly from the flow of the fountain yet. If you refill the bowl with filtered water (note not mineral water) then the charcoal filter will last a lot longer as well. A silent pump but not so silent fountain. At first I kept thinking there was a faucet left running water in the house. It takes getting used to.

Bottom line? For £50, it is on the pricey side but entirely worth it.

So after searching for a while for a drinking fountain that I thought my two gorgeous, yet fussy cats would like, I found the Avalon. I knew I wanted a porcelain or ceramic one as the plastic ones can cause cat acne (Suffering from acne myself I didn't want the same pain in the Arse affliction for my handsome kitties) Plus from what I have read the plastic ones can harbour nasty bacteria. Yuk! Also my kitties do occasionally drink from running taps so I wanted one which also spouted water as apposed to just sitting in the bottom circulating. So I decided on the Avalon. I must admit every time I say the word 'Avalon' I have a little giggle to myself, as a lover of silly movies 'The Avalon' is the name of the hairstyle Adam Sandler makes super cool in You Don't mess with the Zohan. 'It's the Avalon, it says I care about the way I look, but I'm still approachable'
Luckily this fountain is a stylish as the Zohans hair. Maybe even cooler! Really good size for 2 big manly geezer boy cats like mine, I'm yet to see them use it, very fussy cats, mostly just stare it right now, and it's only been one day, but it looks cool, is super quiet and definitely something I would proudly display in my kitchen. Plus it's very easy to set up and clean. Two big massive thumbs up for style and practicality. Not too mention I ordered it Friday evening and it was delivered Sunday afternoon.

Wow, how amazingly different is this pet drinking fountain, so easy to assemble and clean with the added bonus of being dish washer safe, so hygenic being made of crock material, cats no longer flood the worktop, so no need to put anything underneath to collect spillige, having 10 cats it works so much better than the 4 other drink fountains we've had over the years, quiet motor but you can hear the water but after awhile you soon get used to it.
Took longer than expected being dispatched but other than that I can't fault the service from Amazon
Highly recommended product.
