Polly and Cianna are strong characters in this fantasy world and are both charming in their own ways and easy to like. The two girls have different life experiences that put them at odds in the beginning. Their interactions provide the catalysts to understand each other and eventually become real friends. This makes for an exciting, well developed plot.
Secondary characters are also well developed, interesting and essential to the story, the reader will truly care about them all. It is a lovely and romantic rendition of some of life's hard lessons learned. In today's world of instant gratification, violence and economic strife this story is a gentle reminder of what all young girls share, their humanity.
A rather unrealistic setting, as all social levels can freely mix and speak as equals to each other.
Fairly well written, but recommended for girls only.
Sadly it follows the typical stereotype about girls. Still, the story is well written and probably educational to some degree.
Jennifer Alvarez has created a wonderful tale here. She has captured my attention in all her books. She describes everything beautifully, especially the ending, which is my favorite part. I would definitely recommend this book to any pet lovers.
The only thing wrong is THE SECOND BOOK HASN'T BEEN WRITTEN YET.
