PestBye Jet Spray Repeller
This animal repeller is practical and robust, designed for outdoor use. It is a safe and effective repellent that will keep most animals, including cats and squirrels, out of your garden, automatically giving them a short spray of water when they pass in front on the motion sensor. It can also be used to keep herons away from your garden pond. It is connected to a standard garden hose, which can be left turned on as it will only shoot water when triggered.
Why choose this device?
The ultrasonic animal repellers can sometimes affect pets such as rabbits or guinea pigs, so with this water spray repeller you can still deter the pests in your garden without having an impact on your own animals.
Four 'AA' batteries will be needed to power the sensor and battery life depends on how many times the device is activated, but they typically last 3-4 months assuming 10 activations per day. Batteries aren't supplied as standard.

That aside, I am on my second item. The first didn't last as the water froze and the cheap and shoddy plastic pipe shattered. If it needs lagging, then fine, say so and it can be done. However I'd expect an outdoor item to survive outdoors for more than a month, unless otherwise stated.
On top of that, in order for the IR to trigger for a marauding cat, you need it turned up to around 4+. The downside is, on a sunny or windy day, it will go off every minute due to changes in light or whatever. So much so, I feel I cannot leave it operating at what I'd consider an effective level if I am out of the house - which kinda defeats the object of the purpose (or purpose of the object).
All in all, not too disappointed. I have had the pleasure of watching the cat "that wouldn't ever s*** in the garden because it is not fed very much" (seriously - some people should require a licence before owning a pet) fleeing the sprayer. unfortuantely the little b*****ds do adapt, so the sprayer has to be moved around.
Equally, moving the sprayer to block off their latest cat run through my garden has been most satisfying.
Sending my daughter down to the bottom of the garden to empty the kitchen compost delivered equal hilarity.
Just to clarify - I love cats when they're treated as pets. However I don't agree with them being booted out of the house and left to their own. That's not pet ownership (that's what people *used* to do with dogs until it became illegal and socially unacceptable). Stuff does happen, yes, but I am extremely unhappy at having other peoples pets covering my lawn in faeces, digging up my flowerbeds, killing the wildlife I am desperately trying to nurture and putting the health of my children at risk.
I'll get off my soapbox now. xD
The jet covers a significant distance, approximately equivalent to what you'd get from a standard garden hose but the arc of the spray means it also covers the width of my garden. I have also used a number of the ultrasonic repellers but I consider this device to be the daddy. I've been using mine with good quality re-chargeable 2100mah batteries and can confirm that the battery compartment has remained watertight and they last the 3-4 months as advertised. Unless the cats are getting stealthier, I think the bushes at the back of my garden sometimes set it off but I decided not to lower the sensitivity dial below 6 (out of 10) on the basis that I like seeing the odd jet throughout the day to 1) confirm its working 2) give the grass a light sprinkling.
Build quality is decent enough but I would still take care when assembling as plastic is not indestructible to say the least. That said, I had no issues with pressure or leaks. Be prepared to get wet when setting it up, especially if you're a little obsessive like myself and like to get the perfect angle though multiple "friendly fire tests". Be prepared to get even wetter if, like me, you have a poor memory and forget that you've just set it up!
I do, however, have one piece of advice: as with most other plastic hose peripherals DO NOT LEAVE OUTSIDE IN FREEZING CONDITIONS. Stupidly, I did so. When I came to replace the batteries earlier this year and get it firing again, I found a crack along the seam of the lower hose section. It could be a manufacturing default, but I highly doubt it. Nevertheless, I contacted Primrose, received a reply the same day and they arranged a replacement within 48 hours. Now that is what I call 1st class customer service! Knowing now that they back their products with this level of customer service means I'll now be checking out other Primrose products. I'm sick of buying other poor quality products whose sellers just disappear or don't speak the native tongue.
Pro-tip: If you have kids around, leave them a little treat at the bottom of the garden and tell them to go fetch it while you set your phone to record
