Persuasion jumps right back into where Trickery, book 1, left off. In fact it feels like I've never left the world and all of Willa's craziness, except I know I have as I've been missing her shenanigans like crazy. I flove that Willa is not your typical heroine, she's clumsy and dangerous to herself and those unfortunate enough to be around her, but she's more than capable of fighting her own battles, albeit haphazardly and with more than just a bit of luck on her side. Her inner monologue is one that has me cracking up, and almost peeing my pants. She doesn't understand many everyday, normal things that others do, but she's sharp enough to not trust certain other people and situations. She's probably one of my favourite characters, ever, that I've read to date.
The Abcurse brothers in this second book are opening up just a little more to Willa. I'm loving how the dynamics of their group are slowly changing throughout this book and the decision that all five of them make at the end of this book just makes me fall in love with them even more. I also love the little ways that they show Willa throughout this book that she is someone important to them, particularly when she's having her inner monologue moments which they pick up on. Out of the five brothers, I really don't have a favourite which is odd for me as usually I can pick out one that I like more than the others. But no, not with these five! Like Willa, I'm equally in love with all five of them for different reasons and I don't think it's even possible to split them all up, they come as a pack and I'm more than happy to have them all together.
We do get some questions answered in this book, but we're also left with more questions which as this is a five book series, you'd expect. I have a feeling though that with something that was revealed to us at the end of the book, all is not as it seems. The romance is also amped up just a notch in this book, however not quite as high as I'd like. But sometimes that's all the fun of reading a romance, the long, drawn out will they won't they interrupted moments and this book had enough of those to whet my appetite. I have high hopes for book three though, seeing as it's called Seduction, that finally all that tension will explode into one stupendous, smoking hot love scene.
This book is an easy five stars for me, no need for persuasion on that! It's laugh out loud funny, it's smoking hot with romantic tension and it's ram packed full of action and mystery that has us readers wanting to unravel it all right alongside Willa and experience it all just as she is. I can't wait to read the next book to see what happens next, but in the meantime I'll definitely be rereading this book again.
Some interesting revelations in this book and some interesting developments in the dweller-sol-gods relationships. I did enjoy the storyline, it was just spoilt a bit for me by the niggles. I may yet read the third book as I am a bit intrigued to see what happens following the revelation at the end (which I had kind of guessed was coming).
If you enjoyed the first one, give the second a go. Definitely a young/new adult book - plenty of sexual tension and some bits are sexual in nature so not appropriate for younger than adult.
Willa Knight is a Dweller who is serving at Blesswood academy, with an attitude and a curse of clumsiness (amongst others), this is the story of her and the five magical beings everyone knows as the Abcurses, but Willa lovingly refers to as 1,2,3,4 and 5 as well as some other choice names. They have several episodes where crazy things happen, mainly as people try to teach Willa lessons, some she is willing to learn and some that she needs to avoid learning if she wants to be able to stay on the path she wishes. There is also a pact that makes for some funny circumstances.
This series just gets better, I can’t wait for the next book in the series. If its half as good as the first two, I can’t wait
The books grab you immediately. I was never that into Paranormal type books before; I had just finished a bunch of historical fiction/thriller genre novels and wanted to try something new. I stumbled across these authors in my Kindle Unlimited searches and decided to give it a try. Glad I did!
I love the writing style and humor of the authors. I can't wait to see where they take this series, and what other novels they come up with together and separately.
The story continues, and is just as exciting as the first one, the humour and character commentary gad me laughing out loud.
This is an all round excellent book, this is fast becoming one of my favourite series, it has everything you could want in a great book and you cannot help but love it!!
I am so excited for the next book and I highly recommend this book, everyone needs to read it
