Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
However, I don't consider £26.99 cheap, so when it arrived and I flipped out the legs to place it on my desk, I was amazed to note that it had a wobble of something close to 7mm when the top right corner was pressed down. Flipping the legs back into place I tried laying it flat... with the same result. So I held it edge-on to the light.
The entire body of the keyboard is TWISTED.
*sigh*
Since I desperately needed a new keyboard to write with I don't have time to go through the rigmarole of an RMA (which one reviewer noted didn't even get a reply in their case) so I've done what I can to mitigate the problem. A bit of that well-known blue non-sticky-sticky-stuff under the wobbly foot didn't help much, but wedging the lead underneath that blue stuff has finally balanced it to a point where it doesn't move.
As to general features of the keyboard (in case you want to risk getting a wonky one), they are:
- The keys feel good to type on and have a decent space between them. This is ideal for non-touch typists like me, who use two fingers on each hand but go at a very fast rate. On a close-spaced keyboard I am forever hitting the key next to the one that I want, but this one has enough spacing to prevent that.
- The white backlighting is easier on my eyes than I thought it would be. My last backlit keyboard had a red or blue option, and I always chose red as I found the blue hard to see against the black keys. I find the lowest level of light is just enough for me to work by.
- The image on the box does not show a UK keyboard, but the item inside *is* a UK layout, so no worries on that side of things.
- One downside (apart from the wobbliness of the one that I received) is that the enter, right shift, and backspace keys sometimes sound squeaky or squishy when they're hit, especially if they're not pressed right in the middle.
Overall, it seems that most reviewers received a non-wobbly keyboard and I just seem to have been unlucky in this regard. However, I've managed to effect a decent fix for the issue and will continue to use it for as long as it works. It looks as if, for this item, you take pot luck in getting something decent or something a little bit wonky.
UPDATE (1st March 2015) -
I'm revising this review after a serious issue with the built-in USB port. Today I tried plugging my flash drive into the USB port on this keyboard. My computer didn't recognise the drive at all, so I removed it by pulling it out (since it wasn't recognised it didn't show up in the 'safely remove hardware' option) and plugged it into the main computer. I copied the file I wanted, and then ejected the flash drive.
I then tried to type something. My keyboard was unresponsive and the lights had gone off. So I rebooted the PC. The lights came back on, but the keys were still dead. Nothing happened when I tried to type or use the backspace key when browsing. In the end, the only way to get the keyboard working again was to unplug it completely from the PC and then re-plug it.
Others may not have had this issue when using the built-in USB port, but I certainly did, so be warned. Other than that, the keyboard is still working normally.
UPDATE (28th Nov 2015) -
I suspect this keyboard is now beginning to fail. At least once (sometimes twice) a week, when I power on the PC, it fails to recognise the keyboard and nothing happens when I start typing. A quick remedy for this is to whip out the USB from the back of the desktop tower (easy for me, since the tower sits on top of the desk; if yours is in an awkward place then you might have more problems with this) and plug it back in.
Other than that, the keyboard is still going strong (and still wobbling if I don't get the lead seated just right under the back-right flip-out foot!) The only signs of wear and tear are that the cutout of the H key is beginning to wear in the centre, but that's probably due to my fingernails tapping the key at that point, because of my unusual typing style.
I haven't used the built-in USB slot yet so can't comment on that. There was a very slight bend as others have reported. I wouldn't have noticed it if others hadn't reported it. It was really slight and after a few weeks use any minor wobble has gone. My only complaint is that the backlighting doesn't really go as bright as I would really like. There are 4 brightness settings - off, dim, slightly less dim, nice but dim. My eyes aren't great so for me, it isn't really bright enough in a partially lit room. Not a problem in a bright room, and bright enough in a dark room though. All in all I am pleased with it. I use it for lots of stuff including long coding sessions and this keyboard is nice and precise and comfortable to use.
When someone hangs on to a keyboard that ships with a pre-built computer for 16 years, it's fair to say that they're pretty happy with what they've already got, and I am... or so I thought I was. My main criteria was something smaller and quieter than the existing beast. Ye Olde Faithful has a heap of extra buttons and gadgets surrounding the main keyboard, some of which I didn't mind losing, others (Calculator shortcut, media player controls amongst others) I was keen to keep. This was one of the few (that I was prepared to shell out for - I'm tight fisted with stuff like this) which retained these features.
An important point to note: When I first put the thing down on the desk it didn't quite sit level - see-sawing between 2 corners as if the feet were not level. If this happens on yours, don't panic. This board is nice and weighty - just let it settle down and it will level out and sit nice and flush after a few minutes. I left mine for a few minutes while I went to fetch the box, getting ready to pack it back up for return and by the time I'd come back to it the problem had gone.
The extra USB port on this was an added bonus. I didn't want it specifically, but now I use it so much I don't think I'll ever go back to reaching all the way over to the computer to plug in my flash stick. I did try plugging in my bluetooth dongle into this and although it worked, it drained too much power form the keyboard and the response time suffered massively. It was worth a shot though, but sadly it doesn't work.
The key action on this is both light and positive, as well as being reasonably quiet. The keys themselves have surprisingly little play in them, which you come to expect from cheap keyboards - lightly press your finger onto the top of any key on your board without pressing it down, then wiggle around a bit. This one has very little of the sloppyness you can feel there.
The backlight is quite well designed on this one as well. If you sit leaning back a little from the board, the lights just give off a nice soft glow from under the keys, as well as highlighting the letters through the top of each key. The 4-setting brightness is a nice touch as well - one keypress takes you from no backlight to dim - medium and bright, so if you;re gaming in the dark it's no hassle to dim the lights a little. That said even on the brightest setting this thing isn't dazzlingly over-lit.
The last praise I'm going to heap over this is the way that it stays put on the desk exactly where you put it! Some keyboards have one or two rubber feet, some (awful) keyboard have none. This one has 4 nice soft broad feet along the front edge and another 2 smaller ones on the backl (which only work when the board is in the lowered position), so even with the most ham-fisted pushy of typists, you won't find yourself chasing this one around your desk all the time!
