I've purposefully refrained from posting a review, until I gave the treatment plan from the book, which I've been following for 3 menstrual cycles a chance to work. Without going into too much detail, my cycle was irregular and I was exhausted. I'd been suffering multiple monthly migraines with visual aura for 2 years. 3 months on this regime and 3 months migraine with aura free, with a normal cycle again.
I think every girl should get this book at puberty now, frankly. Great, evidence based medical knowledge.
I found this book very interesting and easy to follow. I implemented a few of Lara's suggestions such as Vitex. She also suggested that it would take about 3 months for the return of a period. Lo and behold 3 months later i had my first period in 3 years! So thank you Lara!
Would recommend the book for anyone who has any problems with their periods or anyone wanting to learn more about periods and their relation to your health generally.
Update to my review: this book is so good that I've decided to also buy the paperback copy (previously had kindle version)!
I would have liked to see more information about which recommended supplements are okay while breastfeeding as I’m not sure what I can actually take. The book doesn’t cover mood changes that coincide with ovulation.
I could honestly say that this book changed my life! Many thanks to the author. I wish I had such doctor near me.

In the span of three weeks I had blood work done, hormones
checked, abdominal scans and over 6 trips to the doctors as well as a chat to a family friend who is a gynaecologist. Everyone rushed to say it’s PCOS or stress. Why suffer, go back on the pill, when you’re ready for kids in a couple of years we will give you more hormones.
Thanks Dr. Burden for explaining everything I deep down already knew, namely that my PCOS is post pill development and I need to give myself time. I was lucky to have normal cycles before. Thanks for summarizing all the supplements and explaining why Vitex should be avoided by women with PCOS (I started taking it in with blind hope) as well as talking about diet and it’s importance (switched to a low carb thinking that would do the trick, boy was I wrong). Overall, thank you for bringing my sanity back!
I'm slowly incorporating the advice into my life but only time will tell if I get an A+ on my monthly report card. :)
The book is very clearly written, with an attractive layout and a simple, yet effective organisation of contents, allowing you to go directly to the part you want to go deep in and back and forward through the chapters, although, personally, I would recommend everyone to read the whole book. At least for me it was shocking to realise how little I actually knew about my own female body! It doesn't contain a magic formula to bring back a normal menstrual cycle, but it does give you a complete and non-biased perspective of the whole thing (including contraconception, diet, stress, disorders such as PCOS, etc.) and helps you understand what may be going wrong and how you may successfully introduce the necessary changes to your lifestyle.
We have to beging to understand our body instead of going for the easy way-out, often drugs which often only soothe symptoms but doesn't fix the real problem.
Despite relentlessness of the gynaecologists to give me the pill (which broke my forst attempt to stop the medication, as she said, and they all did, if you don't take it again, you will always have the acne and irregular periods)... I hate this world which gives medicines instead of looking for natural way to ACTUALLY cure the symptoms ... Thank you so much for this book it literally saved me from acne, irregular periods, and the danger from the pill
I will come back in 2 month to confirm ;)
I am currently in the process of become a Registered Acupuncturist and I will be taking forward this things I learned from this book into my future practice. I can’t wait to read this again!!
