To be honest at first when reading the synopsis I was unsure, I just wanted an easy read and honestly didn't get how asexual and romance worked (I know...). But since I had enjoyed Jae's previous work, I thought I would go ahead and give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't my favourite story from Jae but I loved that it opened my eyes to another perspective, allowed me to contemplate stereotypes and reflect on believing I know, when actually I don't know at all. The characters were not at all what I expected either...For instance Leo wasn't the obvious pop star stereotype and Holly didn't fit the mould of how I thought an asexual person would act towards relationships and sex. Some parts of the story did seem a bit simplistic and unrealistic such as Leo's dealings with her manager and music label and the press not knowing her whereabouts...but I guess we don't need complete realism in our romance fiction.
While reading I realised that I didn't actually know anything about the asexual people, the spectrum or the variety of relationships they could experience. I really commend Jae for enlightening ignorant readers like myself and being inclusive to those who might feel alienated... Anyway good read, give it a try and thanks to Jae.
The story line is always unique also the characters and problems. If you read all of her books you still have the feeling you read something new unlike other authors were you read the 5th book and it felt the same as the 4th of that author. I enjoyed this book a lot.
Mistrusting in love, fearful that women only want to be with ‘Jenna’ the rich and famous pop star, Leo is surprised to find she is attracted to her father’s nurse Holly. Holly is genuine and kind, they connect on every level – she is everything Leo is looking for in a partner. However Holly is not like any other woman Leo has dated….
Just as music takes you to evocative places, Perfect Rhythm brings strong images to mind and takes you on a journey of discovery – a beautiful story in which Jae has come up with her most distinctive & individual couple to date. As a huge fan of Jae’s work, I was at first a little wary of the subject matter of this book but I soon came to adore Leo and Holly and found myself becoming fully invested in how their relationship was going to work. Thought provoking, highly interesting and with a subject matter which was beautifully handled, Jae is an outstanding author who delivers consistently fresh storylines - simply superb!
Anyway, well written and interesting but the basic story has been hashed, and rehashed to death.. Personal peeve, how can this book rate a £7 plus charge and books like the Paper Dolls series or the Tricky series which, in this writers opinion are quite a bit superior in both story and writing, go for just .99p?

Well this was refreshingly different. Leo Blake is a burned-out pop star being driven too hard by her manager.Read more
