Man finds lost world, gets captured, escapes, meets girl, they get captured, they escape, get attacked by a bewildering array of creatures, get captured, escape live happily ever after.
This has been done so many times since that it seems cliche. There are also some elements recognisable from Wells and other contemporaries. However, if you like a rip roaring zoo-morphing opera there are few better.

I was a very early reader and at about seven having read everything I could for my age I had the pleasure of first reading this book. I was browsing recently and came upon it once more, an excellent and enjoyable book

a classic mid twentieth century Boy's Own type of page turning adventure; nothing deep or thought provoking - just enjoy

Like a comic without pictures. Read it for nostalgic reasons and enjoyed it.

A very odd book, reasonably well written, but a bit outlandish.
