I first purchased a Pentel propelling pencil about 30 years ago for my Technical Drawing O Level and I still own and use that very pencil today. It's simple, well designed and sturdy so it's hardly surprising that it should last so long. I acquired a new one more recently and as far as I can tell the design hasn't changed (and why should it?) so the Pentel propelling pencil you buy today should, with a little care, still be in use by your children and their children's and so on ad infinitum. Think about it! Your purchase will enrich the drawing experiences of generations to come - somethig you should be proud of!

The pencil is sleek and comfortable to use and the barrel is lightly grooved to give a non-slip grip. It has nice steel accents at the nib, clip and button and it looks classy in an understated way. The whole thing can be disassembled and reassembled easily (hardly necessary, but there's little in life more satisfying than seeing how a propelling pencil works).

The 0.5mm leads draw beautifully sharp lines making it ideal for draughting (who does that these days?) drawing or note writing. There's a little rubber in the lead loading chamber under the button and a wee spike for cleaning broken leads out of the nib.

You can spend a lot of money on high quality propelling pencils. Why bother when this piece of kit works so well and looks good too?

A brief practical recommendation. I recently lost my "O" Level Tech Drawing P205. In the meantime I had received, free of charge, a box of 12 bic A1 propellers. Were these adequate recompense for my devastating loss? No. Not at all. They've been consigned to the Great Desk Tidy In The Sky and, instead, I bought a new Pentel P205. Well, you have to, don't you?

The Pentel P205....... I've tried other pencils, always come back to this one. Never leave home without this and a Moleskine notebook.

You only have to have one of these in your hand for a couple of minutes before you realise what a fine pencil it is. I can recall having the complete set, sometime in the 1980's and it is so comforting to think that you can still buy them in 2010. Its just one of those good things that you would really miss if you didnt have it, like your favourite tea :)

Great little pencil and it comes with a packet of extra leads. I purchased it because the pocket clip can be moved onto an Apple pencil. It fits perfectly without damaging the pencil. Sadly this means you now have a perfectly good mechanical pencil without a pocket clip.

I needed a thin pencil point to write in a small address book - and I have quite large handwriting. I remembered the Pentel pencil from several years ago. Well here it is, exactly like before. Classic design, slim and a very fine point. Excellent purchase and good value.

Slighty "plastically".

Seems very, very light in the hand to me. Just my opinion.

Having said that it does as it should, easy to use. I do not use the eraser as I always use a block eraser.

Came in good time and packaged well.

Hope this helps with your product selection.
