About the Author
CUNNINGHAM writes suspense-ridden, psychological thrillers, think AMERICAN PSYCHO meets 50 SHADES and hold on tight!.... a skilled mix of fueled tension, dark humor and pulsating sex scenes. Having worked in the industries she writes about, her novels offer a fresh level of sincerity and authority, rare in fiction. Abducted as a child, she survived; and every night for months afterward, she prayed to God, asking for a deal. This personal journey sparked the fuse behind the intriguing and riveting fictional world she portrays in 'The Deal', the first in The Fallen Angel series. Twenty years later Cunningham crossed paths with a violent serial attacker, sowing the seed for her mind-bending thriller 'The Penance List'. An ex-model, British born of Irish roots, she married a rock musician and has worked in the exciting worlds of music, film, sports, celebrity management and as a Crime Investigator for the British Police (Wanted & Absconder Unit, Major Crime Team, Intelligence Analyst, Investigations Hub). I’ve also read “The Deal” from the same person. Amazingly, although two different settings/genres I hear the second book from this triology will interact with the characters from David. This adds yet another layer to the depth of the author’s mind.
I can’t believe the books are currently on Kindle Unlimited. I paid the full price for the book which was still well worth the money.
The David Triology could easily be converted into a television series or film. I’d highly recommend reading these before they become more main stream!
It goes back and forth in time but is easy to keep up with (some books lose you).
There is a lot of graphic sex scenes mixed with brutaility but it is exellently written.
The characters in the book all have seperate personalities and mix well together, the way they are all brought together is great. There are some great twists in this book, I cant wait for the next one, it finishes on a great cliffhanger!
Go and buy it, you wont regret it, if you love martina cole books and 50 shades of grey this book is for you!
So I bought the book.
It really is a chic-lit novel featuring the mildly uninteresting lives of three girls working their lives away in London whilst unbeknown to them, the killer is watching their every move.
David is,of course, the killer and in this book, his 'Penance List' includes one of the girls, Tara whom, it seems, innocently befriended him when much younger and, because, in the killer's mind. she spurned him, death is the only outcome. A painful death, a sexually oriented death to salve the libido of the killer.
Well, a lot of the book focuses on Tara's realtionships, at work, at play and, inevitably, with the love of her a life - an Italian footballer, so there is scope aplenty for the author to tell us quite a lot about sex and sexual activity, no matter which way her characters swing. And they swing.
That said, the book is not, in my opinion, a thriller. There is a grand finale and since there are two more books in this series, I won't spoil it but I wasn't overly interested in who did what to whom by the time I reached that finale.
However, if you are looking for a good holiday read without needing to think too much about the content, this first novel will fit the bill.
