It should be a truth universally acknowledged that no-one, just no-one, can write Jane Austen like Jane Austen did! This book (individual stories, but set chronologically through a year) started off well, and I enjoyed it, but sadly became more and more unlikely and unbelievable as the book went on. Quite simply, I couldn't imagine Darcy and Lizzy (or Lady Catherine) behaving in some of the ways that they do in this book. Maybe I should give up looking for a sequel to Pride & Prejudice, then I wouldn't keep being disappointed.
Predictable in a pleasant way. I found the book did not have the power to be a page turner, but the author has managed to make the characters believable and the story flows gently to its predictable conclusion.
