Amazon Review

Anne McCaffrey is best known for the Dragonriders of Pern, but her loose "Talents" SF series about superpsychics has been running almost as long. This began with the near-future (1973), To Ride Pegasus continuing a couple of generations later in Pegasus in Flight (1990). Book two introduced a crowd of new characters, notably the paralysed boy Peter whose telekinetic talent can not only move his body without help from his ruined nervous system, but--with practice--even lift payloads into orbit.

Pegasus in Space follows directly on, with mayhem and mutiny at the opening of a manned space station which Peter and talented friends helped build. Further hassles follow during his training for space haulage work: obstructive bureaucrats, crooked suppliers, murder attempts and skilful sabotage. McCaffrey specialises in feelgood adventure SF, full of romance, warm friendships and hearty meals. Somehow her villains never quite convince, and their villainies are so rapidly dealt with that the story rarely builds up much suspense. Meanwhile, the orphan girl Amiriyah who's adopted into Peter's family has a mysterious, subtle talent of her own, one which we soon guess will change his life ...

Our young hero's ambitions foreshadow this series' later, far-future books (beginning with the 1990 The Rowan ), whose "kinetics" hurl cargo across huge interstellar gulfs. While most people think his talent needs careful conservation, Peter has already teleported supplies to the Moon and has secret plans for Mars, the asteroids, and the moons of Jupiter. It all makes for an agreeable, lightweight read. --David Langford -- Dieser Text bezieht sich auf eine vergriffene oder nicht verfügbare Ausgabe dieses Titels.

I've wanted to read this ever since it came out around easter... I wish I'd bought it earlier. The commissioning of Padrugoi Station and the continuing saga of Peter Reidinger is a top form Mccaffrey novel. There is also the happy ending that we have all been waiting for! (I'll say no more about that because I don't want to spoil the book if you haven't read it yet). All in all well worth the money I would recommend this book. It's a must if you have read the previous two ("To Ride Pegasus" & "Pegasus In Flight")

The final part of the Pegasus trilogy was written about the time the shuttle and space station were being talked about. It offers an interesting twist to the events of the previous two books. All three books are ones I think teenagers as well as adults would like to read and get enormous enjoyment from them. The story does have one problem in that, like all McCaffrey's series, it finishes but you are left with the feeling there is something more to come. It is sad that Ms McCaffrey is no longer able to go back and add more to the series. I still recommend the book to you it is after all a very enjoyable read.

Excellent book, just a shame we had to wait so long for it. Let's hope the next one will not make us wait so long. This is the third book in the Talent series which was started somewhere in the 70s. We see some of the characters of the previous books as they grow up to become adult and grow into their specific talents. As can be expected of McCaffrey the characters are well worked out and the plotting is excellent in it's complex simplicity. The end of the book somehow gives the impression this may be the last one in the series. I just hope it's not.

I have read this trilogy with awe, excitement and a warm glow that I'm sure every reader will. I can't wait to read more of Anne McCaffrey's genius, even after so many years of delightful times she has given me and my friends.
Thank you Anne, for your generous legacy and for making our dreams a reality.

I very much enjoyed the first 2 Pegasus books. This one is enjoyable enough but lingers quite a bit in the middle & peters out towards the end. A bit of a pot boiler but readable with brain in neutral.

Another fantastic book from the late great Anne McCaffrey. We're shown the start of the FT&T and its first strong leaders. My favourite part is when Peter finds out he's getting his sense of feeling back and it's his young friend is the source of the healing. There's no getting away from the fact I think AMC and her books are great. I would, and have, recommend this book to anyone who likes sci fi. This will be read by me again, many times.

I have really enjoyed this book, if fact all the Pegasus series. I would like to know more of what happens in the early stages of the FT&T, before the Rowan starts. Sorry Todd, I love your Mothers books, I also know your filling in the early stages of the Pern series, how's about doing something here.
