This book begins in Olympus where Emily lives along with her father, her best friend Joel and all the Olympians from Greek/Roman mythology. Having settled into their new home, (even teaching the Olympians to play football) life on Earth is becoming a distant memory, that is until they see a photo of a racehorse who looks suspiciously like Pegasus. Emily, Pegasus and friends travel to Earth to unwravel the mystery of the racehorse and end up discovering the CRU's worst crimes yet. Can Emily save Earth from the wrath of Olympus once Jupiter learns exactly what the CRU are capable of?
I have to admit that when I started this book I was unsure as to whether it could possibly have a storyline to rival the other two books as the main threat from the first story, the nirads was explained and worked out in book two, I didn't know how the story could continue on but it actually links in brilliantly from the first two focusing istead though on saving Earth rather than Olympus. The CRU are back and are more evil than ever, all the best characters from the first books return (although we don't see much of Cupid) and some great new characters are introduced such as Alexis the sphinx and Frankie. Emily's flame powers are magnified along with some new ones she has no idea how to control, stronger than ever, she must learn to harness her powers or risk destroying everything around her.
I thought that this book was great, Emily was strong and defiant and stood up for everything that she believed in and I think her character has really developed. I enjoyed the Vegas setting and the idea of Area 51.Read more ›
This is the third book in a fantastic series!
Emily hears about a 'wonder horse' that looks exactly like Pegasus without wings, and decides to investigate. When she gets back to Earth and finds out that the CRU have been creating Olympian clones, Emily is horrified. She knows that Jupiter will not allow Earth to survive if he ever found out. To cap it all, Emily finds out that she is getting more powers!
Emily, Joel, Paelen, Chrysaor and Pegasus are joined by Alexis, the Sphinx, on an incredible journey filled with danger and adventure.
I absolutely love this series of books! The action is fast paced and exciting! The fight scenes are described with incredible detail. I especially liked the fight between Paelen and his clone. It was incredibly realistic! Kate has taken the myths of the Roman gods and given them a fantastic opportunity to continue their immortality for future generations.
I highly recommend this book, and series, to younger readers (11+) and adults alike. I have been reliably informed by Kate herself, that the fourth book in the series is coming out soon. I definitely will be reading it when it comes out!
love you pegs!
(a child's review.. who is 12)
this is the 3rd out of the series
1) Pegasus and the flame
2) Pegasus and the fight for Olympus
3) Pegasus and the new Olympians
This is absouloutely my favourit book. It is the third in the sereies (I have read all of them)and is great! I would probably recommend it to people 9 and up. But 8 year olds just try it out, that is a rough scale. It is all about a girl called Emily and how she goes through all the books saving Olympus or helping Pegasus. Pegasus is a myth, he is a white, stallion with wings and is very powerful. Kate O'Hearn brings in all the roman gods and goddesses giving them personalities. It is really interesting and although I am not keen on non - fiction books this gives a bit of half history in a fun way. That note is for teachers and parents! All the characters are really cool and seem life like when you get in to the flow of the book, especially the gods. You really feel for Emily and her friends and understand their troubles. This book is great for adults too although you might not think it. At the moment 2 adults would like to borrow it from me, so try it out! The book has so many different things in. History, myth, adventure, romance, monsters, animals and much more. By the way, if you are thinking of buying this book, unless you already have, I would advise reading the first two first. You would still get alot out of it but with some bits you need the knowledge from the other two. If that's the case the first book is called: The Flame of Olympas and the second is called: The fight for Olympas. So READ it!!!! You will really love it, I do. If you are not keen on calm, relaxing type of books, don't be fooled. This book is filled with adventure from page 1. With some pretty nasty people inside too! So, if your looking for a book this is it. I rated it 5 stars(wow), that means I love it. Voila!
See what amazing story lurks behind the front cover...
