Great collection of short stories.

I think historical fiction particularly lends itself to the short story format, allowing the reader to get different points of view of a particular time. This short story collection is no exception. The concept of having different tales of how one momentous event (the attack on Pearl Harbor in WWII) had such different impacts on so many people right across the globe is a clever one and is executed very well. I especially enjoyed ‘Turning Point’ by Marion Kummerow, a tense, taut story of a young Jewish woman in danger of being sent to the camps, and ‘Allies After All’, Dianne Ascroft’s heart-warming and often humorous tale of culture clash, set in Northern Ireland.
