HASH(0x92fe3abc) out of 5 stars Shocked by how much I enjoyed this series 28 April 2010

I've just read the whole series in five days and bit shocked by how much I enjoyed this pulp fiction - not normally my genre at all.

Yes it is real low brow stuff but for all of that all 6 books are real page turners.

Not going into detail about the book as this is book 6 and by the time you get here you will have got the drift.

HASH(0x92c10a20) out of 5 stars A solid addition to the series 16 Mar. 2011
By CivWar64 (Bob) - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This was another solid book in the Peacekeeper series. It starts with slavers kidnapping a child and a chase through the woods with some good action that consumes the first third of the book. The peacekeepers also discover a new hidden cave, called "The Citadel" as per the title, and discover there a new giant ship to add to their growing arsenal.

The middle part of the book is a bit melancholy as it deals with the death of a beloved character and the messages that character has left behind for the others. It is very well written and poignant, with some good retrospective on the previous novels in the series.

The last third of the book gets back to the action and introduces us to a rogue U.N. group trying to take over the United States. This group has tanks and attack helicopters, as well as a nuclear missile that is faster than anything the peacekeepers can put up to stop it. The method they attempt is ingenious and well grounded in flight dynamics.

The only reason I rated this as only 4 stars instead of 5 stars was that I thought the middle part, though well done, went on a bit too long, especially for a slow reader like myself who likes lots of action. It is still well worth reading and a great addition to the series.

HASH(0x92e65f00) out of 5 stars Get all of this series now! No regrets from this reader. 21 Nov. 2011

I gotta tell you that I first heard about this series of books a few years back and was not at all interested and then I fell face first into "the end of the world as we know it" when I became a fan of Glenn Beck and took off my blinders and really saw what is happening to this country and to our so called civilized world. As a military veteran I have found this series to be a blast to read. The character development is such that you really get to know them and it hurts you when one of them is hurt or God forbid killed. The author makes it a point to let you know the good guy dosen't always win or live to see tomorrow. Do what I did and get the entire series and read them one right after the other. You won't be dissapointed that is until you run out of books to read. I can't wait until the next one. I love to read and this series does not dissapoint. I have read all of the books in order and my only dissapontment is that there isn't another in my hands now. Hurry up Ricky!!!

HASH(0x92e65f90) out of 5 stars Another winner for Ricky Sides 23 Sept. 2011
By Marie J. Post - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I've read the first five books in this series and I've loved every one. Ricky Sides has created a post-apocalyptic world peopled with characters who have become my good friends. As someone mentioned in another review, one of the major characters is killed in this book; I cried. I could feel the pain of those left behind.

There are parts of these books concerning the mechanics and theories that cause the Peacekeeper fleet to fly, etc, that don't interest me, but I sort of skim over them to get back to the story. I don't need to know the reasoning behind the workings; I accept it without question. It's a novel, not real life!

I'll continue to buy and read everything that Ricky Sides publishes. I love his two-part Claws "series" (Claws, and book 2, Claws 2. After the Apocalypse.) and I love the Peacekeeper books.

This series is pretty good, but does get a bit far fetched at times. Don't get me wrong it has not stopped me from reading the 1st 9 books. I just keep going back for another taste of this story.
- The only drawback for me is that I use Kindle and at the beginning of the later books they give a summary of the previous boos. Have not figured out how to get around it. Small issue really.
Easy to read and fast paced page turner.
