I cannot recommend this book highly enough. For anyone who is either coming into Christianity as a 'beginner', or anyone who wants to become reinspired, this book is written in such a way that you feel that Barry is speaking directly to you. His language is easy to follow and he addresses all of those basic questions that we all ask - eg. 'if the world is not just, then what kind of a God created it? Indeed, if the world is not just, is there a God? Is there any meaning in life?' Barry is an experienced spiritual director, and used to counselling people with issues which cut to the very heart of what is to be a Christian in the Twenty-First Century. His approach is inspiring and hopeful. He talks about rage and grief and doubt, and how to pray in spite of them. And he talks about how to discern God's desires for us. As someone who was recently come back to faith after many years, I found this book was extremely valuable and supportive. It is always good to know that so many others have exactly the same doubts and difficulties with prayer that I do!
