Well worth it.
Performs well.
this is DDR3 RAM, on full size RAM modules.
Laptops:
It's unlikely to be compatible with laptops, which usually have a smaller form factor RAM modules. (Search 'Laptop RAM DDR3' and it should come up with compatible kits for laptops)
Will it work on XYZ motherboard?:
DDR3 was the common standard between 2007 and 2014. Motherboards post 2014 are likely to need DDR4 memory, or possibly DDR5 which launched in 2020
If you want to know whether your specific motherboard is compatible with this kit: Google it's model number, or look in the motherboard manual and check it's "memory" spec. If it says DDR3, you're good to go! :)
For the review itself:
I used this to update my old PC from 8GB to it's maximum 16GB capacity. Helped me meet the suggested specs for Elden Ring, and other modern games.
No issues installing the RAM. Clicked straight into place. The Metal heatsink is low profile enough that it didn't obstruct any other components. Instantly recognized in the BIOS.
Would recommend to boost an older PC, for gaming or general use.
The first was over a year ago, and they've performed well.
Very well made.
They certainly look a lot sturdier than the RAM that initially came with my PC.

Granted, this is now an obsolete memory standard, but if you need quality, relatively performant RAM for a DDR3 system, I don’t think you can do much better.
Back in 2020 or 19 or 18 or 15 or... Look I can't remember all the details so I'll just pick a year at random...... 4530...
Anyway, I had to purchase a new PC for my father for Christmas because the old system I shunned was no longer performing the way he always envisioned it would in......the past (i3-3320, 4GB of RAM 15 year old mechanical drive, some dust and cobwebs and a little vindictive dog urine). So I scoured the internet, cold and alone, and at times very hungry, but never bored. I decided to spare myself the hassle of continuing my quest for components and the subsequent effort of assembly, and adjusted my search for a pre-built, instead. When I informed our intern of my quest, he advised that he has a DDR3 system he no longer needs or wants. I'm a sucker for a bargain so I told him I would repay him by giving him nothing in return. He agreed, thus solidifying my negotiating prowess for things others do not care to sell.
This system comprised of an ASUS Z97-A DDR3 motherboard, 22GB of RAM in various capacity modules, an i5-4460 CPU and an AMD R235 GPU. I bought the remaining components required for the system to function, and Frankensteined the monster back to life. It ran like this for some time. A year or so, maybe more, maybe less...maybe more... At some point I ventured into HWinfo64 and took a closer look at the RAM. Something wasn't right. Then I CPU-Zed the SOB, and the deception became evident, but the interns 8 month work term meant he was long gone. He got away with no profit, leaving me with lots of money saved on motherboard, CPU, GPU and RAM. Damn. Never falling for TAHT again!!!
To make matters worse, the RAM modules were installed in the 4 DIMM slots were as follows:
16GB (2X8GB) Kingston Fury Beast at 1600 MT/s in the A2/B2 slots, 4GB of basic Kingston RAM at 1333 MT/s in A1 slot and a 2GB Kingston stick in B1 running at.... 667 MT/s. Which means...... Thaaaaaaaaat's right. ALL the modules were running at 667 MT/s. The default of the slowest module. Unacceptable.
So I decided to remove the 4GB and 2GB modules, figuring less capacity but higher speeds would be beneficial. I was right. But the journey doesn't end here. Over time I was informed that the system became unstable, resulting in frequent BSOD's. I became perplexed, but my 12 year old daughter suggested I destabilized the system by removing the RAM modules and you know what? The little critter was right. I ran memory tests on the Fury modules and diagnosed lots of errors. These two were NOT communicating, at all. It was like husband and wife after 10 years of marriage. They bloody well HATED each other.
Inevitably, they got a divorce and left their ASUS home. First one 8GB module, and a few months later, the other left the property, as well, because I came upon this couple of well behaved newly weds in search of permanent residence. At 1866 MT/s the system runs better than it has ever run before. Very stable, no crashes and two sticks means dual channel again, thus improving performance, somewhat. My OCD has been subdued once again.
This is the second Patriot Viper DDR3 kit I have purchased. The first being a pair of 1600 MT/s modules for an older system I use when browsing or streaming Formula 1, and such. Highly recommend these at current prices. The only drawback is the PCB's are green and not black. But they are hardly visible when in the system so this is not a crucial requirement. Definitely recommended and if there are ay other DDR3 systems I need to populate with new RAM modules, I'm coming back here and taming more of these potent creatures.
Well NOT ANYMORE. Ditch that 8GB of RAM and welcome yourself and your outdated system to 2023 and beyond. You can once again proudly hold your head up high when replying to friendly inquiries about your RAM capacity, replacing shame with mild pride. You tell them that you no longer have to perform a solitary task at any given time, like a single core CPU of the 1990's because you have doubled, yes...DOUBLED your memory's amplitude, allowing you to stream, browse websites by moving and scrolling until carpal tunnel sets in or you are forced to relinquish the mouse in favour of Haagen Dazs.
"But what do I say if the interrogations demand reasoning for continued usage of a DDR3 platform???", you may ask. Well, you just look your interrogator straight in the eyes and you tell them, "...I like to live dangerously." Develop a smug smirk with your lips, maintain their gaze emphatically, and ask, "......Any more stupid questions?"
These modules are a brilliant and efficient way of improving older systems and prolonging life span. For basic daily function, there is absolutely no reason to purchase an entirely new system when DDR3 provides exceptional service in this realm. That includes gaming.........on older titles, of course. You want to have the grandest 4K experience in newest titles because you're allergic to sunlight and human contact, simply increasing memory to 16GB on your circa 2012 personal computer will not cut it, or anything else.
BUT...to those pestering you about how much more performance you can have for browsing with newer systems, you tell them to take their DDR4 and DDR5 propaganda to the white house. Because money doesn't grow on trees, right??? It........well, it's made on the internet and electronically transferred to your bank account by your employer. Yeah, think about that the next time you make a purchase with a card.
The only drawback of these modules...... Not the performance. Not the cost... Give up??? Ok, it's the aesthetics. The heat spreaders look fine. But the module PCB is green, not black. I also bought another set of these but at 1866 MT/s and it was the same thing. Not a deal breaker given the performance uplift and they're hardly visible. Would just have been nice if the entire module was black...you know?
........ Anyway. I highly recommend these. After approaching a year of use on an older system (i5-2500K and EVGA GTX 560 Ti) these work great at specified speed of 1600 MT/s and complement existing components very well. And I routinely avoid the humiliation of having an 8GB secondary system. Yeah, let's see you make fun of me NOW......mom!!!
