Turn Any Power Socket into an Internet Outlet
TL-PA4020PKIT AV500 two-port powerline adapter with AC pass through starter kit is an easy way to extend your home network.
Imagine this; your router is on the first floor, while your wired only smart TV is upstairs. You might contemplate on drilling a hole on the ceiling and running dozens of yards of Ethernet cable through the hole and finally to the destination, which makes your home messy and untidy.
The TL-PA4020PKIT two-port powerline adapter with AC pass through starter kit makes your existing socket not only a way to provide power but also a way to transmit Internet connection. It saves you all the trouble and is an easy way to fix the problem.

It may be OK for people who do not live in a multistory building, flat dwellers should avoid this product.
I was renting the top room of a 3 story house and as the broadband was on the ground floor, the wifi reception was non-existent. This solved that problem, completely.
As it says, it uses the property's electrical network to transmit the broadband signal. This means that all you need to do is ensure that the socket you connect the broadband to directly and the socket it's being transmitted to are on the same electrical network (more than likely with rare exceptions). Once you've confirmed this, get a high quality ethernet cable for each end, follow the instructions for creating the link (it's pressing a couple of buttons so the 2 adapters can seek and detect one another, much like bluetooth on phones) and away you go. It's really that simple and a true solution to properties with poor wifi signals.
I bought these to add to my existing network (BT HUB6 + TP-link Wireless exrtender + 2 TP-link Powerline adaptors + various Linksys LAN hubs).
As promised in the product description, these were compatible with the other powerline adaptors.
To join these to my existing network, all I had to do was press the 'synch' button on any of the existing adaptors and also press it on one of the new connectors (while they're both powered). The new unit synched within 10 seconds and I was in business.
Note: The new and old adaptors were ALL powerline but were DIFFERENT models. Well done TP-LINK for protecting your customers' investment.
I hope that this review is useful to someone - feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Addendum. I have downgraded these to three stars to reflect a problem my tplink network has developed. Occasionally (about once every 3 weeks) i need to power-cycle the adaptor that connects the tplink network to my main hub, to fix a complete network failure. Resetting the hub doesn't help, only the tplink adaptor. If you need these to work unattended for months they may not be the ideal solution, despite my enthusiasm above.
I was able to reset them like this:
Reset the mains sockets (not sure if this was necessary but did it anyway)
Press the button for more than 7 secs on the first unit (10 secs at least)
Do the same for the second unit.
Let the LEDs settle down (can't remember the configuration at this point)
Press the master unit button for 1 sec
Do the same for the second unit.
All the lights are back on and units working correctly.
Another review says this is caused by the power save function kicking in and then the network can't be woken up, seems plausible. If it happens again I'll update this review.
Update after few months: These are 2 main problems I am facing one of them is weired but it is a problem.
1) If you start using UK plug your internet connection will suffer. Happened with myself moment I started using UK Plug too device on one of Lan will stop working or work intermittently.
2) Not sure how relevant is this but it is a problem. One of LAN i am using in the router to extend the range of house and using few devices out of it . Like Raspberry pi , apple tv & they work like charm. Other LAN goes to LG Tv ( 2017 model) and none of apps within TV will work , all throwing same error. Apps like Youtube, Itv, BBC iplayer. So after testing, switching off tv, resetting router , swapping between two LANS , even ordered new LAN cables from Amazon, etc etc I realised if I use only 1 LAN then my TV apps work perfectly fine.
Unfortunately, all I am thinking now is to buy another pair but definitely not 2 port.
