Product Description

After six years in the wilderness , Andrea Glass has returned with the follow-up to her acclaimed debut album, Stood Under Stars. Written while drifting from sofas to spare rooms to cheap hotels across the UK, all the while keeping up a gruelling live schedule, Party of One is a meditation on the never-ending quest for somewhere and someone to call home . The title track was inspired, Andrea says, by my friend Mark who drove across America alone and was constantly referred to as 'party of one' at nearly every restaurant he dined in - talk about rubbing it in! It was a predicament and feeling I knew well. Several tracks (Union, See Me Through, Matter of Time and The Last Time) take the listener through the heartache of rebound relationships hoping each time that this one could be the one only to find that they are nothing of the kind. Family relationships too, come under Andrea s bold and honest gaze, in Peacetime, a song she wrote about a long-term rift. Party of One was recorded at 3Kyoti in Glasgow, where Eddi Reader and Justin Currie have worked previously, with Mark Freegard. It is produced by singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine, who also co-wrote two of the tracks, Party of One and Killing Time. As for whether Andrea ever found that place called home? Well, perhaps that will be the subject for album number three...

"Beautiful. It's been a long time since the last release. But it's been really worth the wait." - Bob Harris is so right.
