One Drone, Multiple Accessories
The Parrot Mambo minidrone comes equipped with two new accessories that help turn the sky into a playground! Fire miniature balls at moving objects with the Cannon, or move objects through the air using the Grabber claw. You can also enjoy acrobatic tricks and flips in flight. This super robust and easy to handle Minidrone will measure up to all your challenges.
Interact with other drones and pilots using the included Cannon accessory. Attach the Cannon to your Parrot Mambo and let the games begin!
Test your skills with target practice, and fire these little balls at a pyramid of cups or other light-weight targets.
You can load up to 6 pellets into the Cannon at a time. The first pilot to knock everything down wins!
Would you like to do something out of the ordinary and surprise everyone? Attach the Grabber to the Parrot Mambo and use it to transport mini-objects that weigh up to 4g to a new location.
Simply activate the claw on the home screen of your FreeFlight Mini app, carry something up into the air, and put it down wherever you want.
Thanks to an advanced flight controller and high performance sensors, the Parrot Mambo is easy to pilot and control.
In addition, the autopilot functionality ensures that it will stay stable and hover, even if you let go of the controls.
Lastly, the Parrot Mambo comes equipped with and automatic 'shutdown system' that cuts the motors off in case of a crash or collision.
Tips for getting started
- Before takeoff, be sure to update your Mambo's software and fully charge its battery. For double the flight time and twice the fun, pick up an extra battery with your purchase.

FreeFlight Mini’s easy-to-use interface makes piloting simple, even for beginner pilots. The app connects to your Minidrone via Bluetooth Low Energy.
Once connected, select your preferred piloting method and take-off. You can pilot using virtual joysticks in Joypad mode (default setting), or by tilting your smartphone/tablet in the direction you want your drone to go in Accelerometer mode.

I think it's pretty tight of Parrot not including any spare blades.
The drone is actually fantastic to fly, it hovers about 1 mtr from the floor, and just stays there, allowing you to steer and fly about.
The take off and land , stunts are all so easy too. The camera is not very good. I would rate 4 star if spare blades came with the drone.
The difference in build quality between this and the other drones we have bought was immediately obvious. This heavier for its size and much more solid. Although the drone is difficult to crash, I did manage, and it took a tumble down the stairs case, but there has been no real damage. The propeller guards can pop off if it is hit hard enough, but they do snap back on easily. The children haven't crashed it at all. It easy to fly and requires no skill other than knowing which button does what. All of the other drones we have had required a great deal of skill to hover. This balances itself, you simply hit the correct button and will hover about 3 ft off the ground. You can adjust to make it hover higher or lower, it is easy to pilot and because of the automatic balancing difficult to crash.
We did buy a separate controller, as we have difficulty with almost all wireless functions on mobiles or tablets due to high levels of interference in our area. Had I known how well the app worked to control the drone I would not have bought it. The app is free, easy to install and does everything you need. My son does like the controller now that it has arrived, but it doesn't really do anything the app doesn't.
We have not tried this at any great distance, nor do I intend to after the disaster with the last drone, so I can not accurately comment on range.
This comes with a BBQ gun attachment and a grabber. The BBC gun is easy to use, but does have much power. I am sure this is a safety feature as I believe this model is intended for children. It doesn't hurt if you get shot. It takes the same pellets as some of our small airsoft guns, so these can easily be replaced at any sporting goods shop when they get lost, as sooner or later they will, especially if used outdoors.
My son says using the grabber is difficult and requires some time and effort to master. I would be hopeless with it. Obviously it won't carry a great deal, but my son did manage to carry a small dog treat with it. Very bad idea, as the Staffordshire bull terrier decided to eat the whole drone rather than just the treat but if own dogs that can not leap 5 feet into the air it might be fun. Thankfully the drone did survive. I would note the grabber and bb gun can not both be used at the same time. They attach in seconds, but you can only fly the drone with one accessory at a time.
The battery life on this drone is short, only 6 - 7 minutes.
This is to be expected with this type of drone, and is intact better than previous models we have used. They have to keep the battery size small to keep the weight manageable. My son will certainly be getting back few extra batteries and a charger for his birthday, but if possible I would recommend buying a couple of extra batteries and a charger with the drone. On the plus side, these are very easy to change, you just snap them in place, no wires to connect as many drones have. This comes with a charging cable to charge the battery in drone, but if you want to charge one or more batteries, while flying the drone you will need another charger.
This does have a camera, but it faces downwards. I do not believe it would be possible to navigate by this, nor is it ideal for taking photos unless you want an aerial view.
This set does not include any extras beyond the grabber and bb gun. There are no extra propellers or guards, but these are far more sturdy than most other mini drones and should last a long time. I did check and replacements for both can be ordered from Amazon.
Finally, another reviewer mentioned engine failure. We had something like this happen as well. I have very long hair and unfortunately shed. Careful inspection revealed a hair tangled in the propeller. This was removed with a set of tweezers and the drone was back to full function. If you should have any problems, remove and examine the propellers carefully and avoid take off from places where hair may be an issue. We now use a book as a launchpad to avoid any hair being accidentally sucked up by the propellers.
If you are a first time drone user, or looking for something which will be easy for a child to fly, I can't recommend this product highly enough. There are certainly cheaper models for children but we have found that with this type of item, buying cheaper models just means buying repeatedly. I will be certain any drones we purchase in the future are from Parrot, and plan to buy my youngest son this exact model when his birthday comes, though he will have to wait until then.
A couple of weeks have now passed since Christmas, and at this stage we usually see which toys have really staying value. This remains my son's very favourite toy, and he has decided to get another parrot mini drone for his birthday.
