I find the Parker jotter pens too narrow for my hand and my fingers start to cramp when using them. I bought this pen because it is wider than the jotter pens and the chiselled finish looked as if it offered good grip, however my fingers grip below this feature which was a little disappointing.
The gunmetal finish is very unusual and striking, unlike any other pen which, hopefully, will help to prevent it falling into the hands of colleagues or being misplaced.
I was surprised at how light it is only 26 grammes, compared to my favourite pen the Parker Urban Metallic Chrome Trim Ball Pen which weighs in at 34 grammes, which I would like to use at work but is too wide fit in my uniform pen pocket.
I find it very comfortable to write with and I look forward to using it at work.
If you like good quality, comfortable and unusual pens then I would recommend that you seriously consider this one.
So why only 4 stars?
I am in education right now, so I write quite a lot, and I have found that the finish on the metal starts to wear down after a while (I'd say around 4 months). This is not an isolated issue, I have bought two of these pens and used them in the same way, only to have the finish come off in streaks along the side of the pen where my hand rests (See the attached images). This is particularly noticable just above the lower section of both pens where I apply most pressure when writing. The lack of finish exposes the raw metal beneath the smooth coating which is quite scratchy and unpleasant to hold. I would have deducted more stars, but I am aware that I am quite a heavy user; I would expect the pens to last much longer for a person who is just taking brief notes.
I highly recommend these pens, and I think that the aesthetics and writing experience are worth buying a new one occasionally.
I already own the Parker Urban Chrome Trim Ballpoint pen and loved and, and as part of a gift that includes a notepad for a colleague I added this as it's a reasonable cost and both fell in my budget.
Whilst I am really happy with my pen I am now somewhat jealous of this one.
============= PACKAGING =============
Standard outer card packaging that houses a cardboard parker outer gift box.
============= WEIGHT AND EASE OF WRITING =============
This is a really nicely weighted pen. if I compare it to my Urban Chrome pen it's somewhat lighter.
WIdth wise it's also a really nice sleek size, not too thin and not too fat.
It writes really nciely and there's no variance in the ink intensity on the paper when you write.
============= CONCLUSION =============
I got this for a colleague and am really jealous to the point I can see myself getting one for myself. It's a really nice looking pen. I've added some pics of it alongside my Parker Urban Chrome so you can see the difference.
I've added a page of me writing some notes with it so you can see how it writes on paper. Don't hesitate, I love this pen and think you may as well.
I had a sketch in mind but I haven't been liking the Mont Blanc rollerball I was using it was too leaky and way to expensive.
With this pen I was able to depict in great detail the ulceration one patient had on his scrotum, I was even able to very accurately capture the sheen of the seeping wound which was exactly as it had presented, this is almost impossible with rollerballs. In general this pen is a very nice weight and has a very satisfying clicking action.
For the price it is brilliant quality. I would strongly recommend this pen for general and artistic use.
Get it you wont be disappointed. btw, its a budget pen so don't expect a fancy presentation case, however, if you bought a fancy presentation case, the recipient would think it was a very expensive pen.
It's a lovely pen but then Parker Pens are usually of very good quality.
The presentation box is really nice and is fitting for the pen.
This would make a lovely gift for someone as it ticks boxes all round.
Nothing worse than giving a gift that the packaging lets it down.
Writing with the pen is a dream and the writing on paper looks nice too. Can't beat a decent pen and paper as opposed to a print out on the computer.
AS I said I bought it as a gift for my daughter for school - She refuses to take it to school as she likes it so much she is frightened of losing it.
