Afraid Parish and Richards are my guilty pleasure. Only just found this series and completely hooked. Quite gory and police procedures questionable but the banter between the characters make them hard to put down and make you look forward to the next one. For anyone new to this series you really need to start at book 1 as there are certain ongoing themes running through them all and I am glad I have read them in order. Not sure how Tim concocted the series as each one leads seamlessly into the next one and he could not have written book one first and then decided to carry on, as so much thought has gone into the characters evolving throughout the series. Some people have commented that there are too many separate investigations going on in the same book but I don't find it a problem. It might be easier if there was something to indicate you were moving into and out of the next set of murders - like *** separating them but perhaps it ensures you are concentrating!

If you have read all the others in the series then you will enjoy it, but really dislike the female detective immensly. I also found too many stories going on and that it was difficult to keep track. Some of the stories were more exciting than others so I almost wanted to skip the new detective bits.... will carry on reading the series though and hopefully she wont stay forever...

I've really enjoyed all 6 books of the Parish & Richards duo but getting to book 7, Xena & Stick have been introduced. I can't stand Xena and it puts me off reading book 10 if she's still around. Will have to give that some thought as the storyline itself was an enjoyable read.

If there's such a thing as an anti-police procedural, these books are. The author tips a nod to up to date forensics, but aside from that, almost everything that happens in these books is designed to move the stories along without worrying about minor issues like evidence.

But I'm still reading them!

Really enjoyed this book. Pure entertainment throughout. Stretches reality somewhat in banter between senior police officer and trainee detective but so what. She is is step-daughter, so it's passable. I like the banter, it's on my wave length. Trouble is, I've started, so I'll finish, just to find out about Parish and his parentage!

I like a good crime read Michael Connelly Tami Hoag- Patricia Cornwell
Tim Ellis is not in there league but he puts a total different spin into his books there's more human in the right places which I like, slightly over the top on the amount murders by the murderer and the plots are not that bad but I enjoy his books

I get so engrossed in the stories, that the endings suddenly jump out at you and I am wondering if I missed a bit, but not for long. The next thought is starting the next book.
