With a whole new set of difficulties that stand in the way of Paris' happiness, the book has twists and turns that will have readers reaching for tissues and chocolate from the first page to the last.
Paris is a tenacious character who, despite making some mistakes along the way, faces down tragedy, pain and heartache with courage and a determination that I, as a reader, found inspiring.
There are characters who will make you laugh, some who will make you cry, others that will make you want to break things (preferably their faces) and ever-present is Paris' best friend, Izzy Moffit (the protagonist from the first in the series.)
Ultimately, this is a story of love, friendship, loss, hearts breaking and being pieced together again, and triumph over sometimes seemingly unbeatable odds.
I would (and will) recommend this book to anybody. Francesca has blown me away with this, her debut novel, and I cannot wait for more from this incredibly talented author.
The story itself begins with a teenage Paris. A young girl that faces heartache and loss like nothing you would ever want to experience. But we do... The story is so real and touching, and I guess that's why it makes it completely different to others out there. Although some parts leave you shocked and a bit like "WTF??", you can still relate to everything Paris is going through because it happens daily. Maybe not to us, but to others out there. Friends, loved ones, or passers by. It's just real!
I definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves a laugh and a good ol cry, but most importantly, to everyone out there that wants a read like no others. A raw and beautiful piece of writing.
Well done Francesca. I would've clicked more but they only allow me five measly stars.
Paris’s story begins for us in her teens and takes us through to her thirties, and is set alongside Izzy Moffit’s journey, however the books could be read standalone, but I would recommend you embrace the Wonderland experience and read them in the order of release.
Paris, Goose or Rider – which ever persona she is wearing, her life took a route she did not see coming due to a tragic event that shaped everything that came next.
We can all look back and say we made at least one slightly misjudged decision, but what were the consequences of that fateful decision? For Paris the consequences were a train wreck that could destroy her. She is left spiralling out of control and down towards her very own hell with the potential to take those she loves with her.
My brain keeps mocking me for all the mistakes, yet I can’t seem to stop making them. ~Paris~
Just one wrong turn, is all it took.
At the end of chapter 31 I had to stop, my eyes had blurred and tears threatened as I began to understand the full extent of her predicament and what it could mean both for Paris and for Izzy her only true friend.
We also meet Ethan Walker, whose Wonderland journey is the next in the series, and Max Colton (also known as Mine, so back off ladies).
Interlaced with some really funny moments between the characters, these bring some much needed light relief to Paris’s story.Read more ›
At the start of "Paris Hemsworth's Road to Wonderland," we meet a happy, spirited fifteen year old Paris. Her life is seemingly perfect. She has a loving mother, a doting father with whom she shares a special bond, and her Izzy--the best friend who's become a sister. Paris is coming into womanhood and experiencing feelings that are new and intense, but nonetheless exciting. And apart from other normal teenage struggles, the only problem in her life is that she is forced to watch, without interference, as Izzy suffers through horrific and perpetual abuse. Paris and Izzy have been friends since they were both four years old, and over the years it's become routine for Izzy to escape to the Hemsworths' home for respite from her malicious father. When Izzy moves in with the Hemsworths permanently, the single dark cloud hovering over Paris' fairytale life vanishes, leaving her firmly ensconced in a bright, blissful world.Read more ›
