This is the fifth book in this engaging series, and gives Jamie his chance at happiness. He is increasingly surrounded by happy couples, and Friday evenings have become even more tortuous than before Liam found his man.
A great, dramatic start to a book ,with super strong Max holding up a car, as Jamie rescues the driver. An explosive start, which leads to a real crime being uncovered by the local police. Once the situation settles, Jamie has found that the driver is maybe someone he could become close to, but is survivor thanks the only link between them? I enjoyed the ongoing avoidance of Friday evenings, but also the realisation that things maybe on the change. Some fun misunderstandings along the way too.
We are also brought up to date on progress for the veteran's halfway house that the men are busy getting ready - there is a resident ... and a strong hint that he will be getting his HEA very soon.
Another good addition to the series, with a slant away from the cabins for a change.

That being said... This book, even from the beginning, felt so rushed to me. I mean I've always felt that each of these books deserve to be a novel. The characters, the town, the stories, this series has it all, but just as I'm settling in to this one... Bam... it's over. Was there a deadline that needed to be met? Am I missing some chapters?
So many questions left half answered, so many important events that DESERVED to have more time spent on them, and not just left at....three weeks later...
I'm not going to give away any spoilers here, and I hope it doesn't keep you from reading this book, because like I said, these are some amazing guys, with amazing relationships, and amazing stories that absolutely should be read. But after 4 books, and probably two of the best main characters in the series so far, I just felt that the author let me down.
Jaime sat with recovering Ian, talking to him while he's unconscious, and is there when he wakens. Ian can't remember anything, not even his name. Bit by bit things start to come back, but jumbled. Jaime spends lots of time with Ian, and when Ian's sis shows up, there is a misunderstanding. We get lovely characters once again as we learn more about the men. They are attracted to each other, when on a date, they are walking when they hear yelling and profanity, plus strange sounds. Ian reacts right away to reach the area in question, and finds a body in the bushes. Ian calls 911; Jaime renders aid.
This is a great addition to the series, as we finally see Jaime find someone to love, and to be loved in return. We get hot sexy times, and a continuing story. I love the connecting stories that are full of other issues and action. Daniel's veteran's sanctuary gets it's first tenant, a Navy SEAL, who we'll learn about in the next tale.
This is a well written series I highly recommend ! ENJOY !
I look forward to hearing more about Jamie and Ian in the following books. As usually is the case with RJs books, these are guys I wanna hang out and have beers with at the local bar.
