I don't jump much these days, but this book is terrific even for non-jumpers. Why? Two reasons. First, it treats parachuting as the complex system it is, giving low-numbers skydivers like me a depth and breadth of knowledge about canopy flight that far exceeds what you learn on an AFF or FS1 course. And a more knowledgeable skydiver is a safer skydiver.

But second, the book on every page is what you might call a "celebration of the human spirit", taking adventure and excitement not as entertainments to rush headlong into, but rather challenges that can be met with the right skills and training (and how much better they are if you go in prepared!)

It's a classic book among jumpers, but I hadn't read it before I had 100 jumps in my logbook and wish I had. Not just the What and How of canopy flight, but the Why.

I read this the first time before my AFF course. I read it the second time after I achieved my A-license and only then understood how great this book is. I would say a must for those who wants to replace insecurity with knowledge about canopy flight. Brian Germains experience shines through in the way he explains things in understandable terms.

I was very impressed with this book. It explains everything from basic aerodynamics(necessary for really _understanding_ the information that follows) to basic canopy flight to advanced maneuvers. Everything is explained in a simple yet accurate way.

This is quite simply a must-read for anyone planning to fly a canopy loaded over 1.0 lbs/sqft.

This book is fantastic for any skydiver. Really informative (as you would expect from Germain), making you feel a lot more confident with your canopy. Although the standard rules apply - 'there is no alternative to speaking to and getting instruction from your CCI / instructors at the DZ!' :P
