Nice felt tip of the pen,
Nice construction and good to hold
Nib writes great when new
Deep black colour
Costly (a pound a pen!)
Nib turns soft rather sooner than I would like (still does the job)
Dries out sooner than I would like
The pens worked really well and your individual style could really come out.
This set (in my case 14) has 14 wonderful colours that I can doodle to my hearts content.
The ink flows really well the ink doesn’t bleed like those cheapo fibre tips and the pen resists blobbing, skipping.
I received my set am in 7th Heaven.
Now a brief History lesson which helps to explain why I am so happy with my set.
Round about 44 years ago you had a choice- a fountain pen, ball point pen or a pencil.
The trouble with ballpoints was that your writing style suffered considerably and schools and some firms banned them.
Later when the Mandarins and Bean Counters realised that ball points were twice as efficient and moreover 10 times cheaper than the old fountain pens and the ink they relented.
The £ signs rose before their eyes.
The suddenly Paper Mate exploded onto the market with ball point pens that could actually write upside down!
- The rumour was that they were developed for the space programme so that astronauts could write in Zero G.
- Every school boy wanted one and I remember my cousin boasting he had received his as part of his Christmas present from his parents.
- Technology mover on and the fibre tip was invented
One of the first and best was the Papermate Stylo.
It had the convenience of a ballpoint but the control and style of a fountain pen.
Every one started to use them in offices because they were far better than the crummy cheap ball points the firms grudgingly provided.
They had style, flair and you could doodle away to Kingdom Come.Read more ›

No arguments from me on this one - the pens have water-based ink, so they're a little less prone to bleeding, even on lighter weight paper. Read morePublished 10 hours ago by Elle Kay Bea

A love papermate flair pens, they come in a range of colours. I don't colour in with mine because I don't think they work well with the Millie Marotta and Johanna Basford books. Read morePublished 9 days ago by chicchick
