Product Description

Like it's predecessor (LOST LONDON), PANORAMAS OF LOST LONDON reproduces historic photographs commissioned by the London City Council - many of them in the early days of photography - to capture individual buildings and streets in close focus but in a landscape-format book.

Superbly produced hardback with big, finely detailed photographs of central London from about 1900 to immediate post-WW2. Most streets and buildings illustrated have since been destroyed.
PLEASE NOTE if you also have Mr Davies's "Lost London", also published by English Heritage, you will find a substantial number of pictures duplicated between the two books and you may therefore hesitate to have both. Personally, I'm more than happy to have the two.
You may also like London - Hidden interiors by the same team which comprises more recent colour photos of interiors, most but not all of which are still extant but not easy to get into.

brilliant book of old London , had it for a couple of years now and never tire of looking through it ,until recently I looked at the index and found that there were a few pages missing as well as the corresponding pictures from them pages , was annoyed but the binding and sealed pages were intact so must assume was a mistake at the printers ,which on checking where it was printed and binded was in china , I was bit bemused but that's where it came from , iv'e already e-mailed the publishers and awaiting their reply , so if there are any other buyers with same problem lets let the publishers know this about the wonderfull book ,

Bought this book for my Dad who had recently had a stroke. First page he turned took him back to the street he had worked in as a younger man, as his past memory is better than his recent he thoroughly enjoys the book.
