I have had many vacuum cleaners. I had one that turned out to be a Diesoon. I had one that turned out to be a Vex. I had one that turned out to be Much Wretched. I had one that turned out to be a Pernicious Devil. Then I had a Panasonic MC-UL594. Its suction power exceeded all others by at least 1/3rd. It was quieter than most others. I bought it in December 2010. It caught fire and burned out in March 2014. But until the day this happened it out-performed any other vacuum cleaner I owned. I wanted another and what do I find? Its unavailable. They have brought out this UL-426. It works fine and I am happy with it. It still has superior suction to most other vacuum cleaners but it lacks the sheer umph of the 594. It isn't as quiet either but that doesn't bother me unduly. I don't get visitors but you won't hear the door bell with this one. It doesn't have the capacity of the 594 - its 1,7L instead of 2.5L. Neither does it have a filter refresher which was a useful feature of the 594. My conclusion is that the 426 is better than all other vacuum cleaners I have tried but inferior to the 594. If any Panasonic employees read this, bring back the 594 please. I may need another in 2018.

Had a panasonic prior to this one, but it was very heavy. This one is much lighter. The suction is excellent and it's great for pet hair.
The vacuum cleaner is easy to assemble and to operate. The attached wand fitting is really good.
There are a couple of down sides, the first being the short hose. There is an extension hose, but it's fiddly to attach and doesn't store on the cleaner itself. When using the hose the vacuum cleaner is very unstable. Also the cable is very short.
Having said this I would recommend the cleaner, which is very good value for money and in my opinion far better all round than a dyson (I have had a few).

Still minor issues with the cord. There is a place where you pop the cord in to keep it from trailing under the cleaner however it keeps falling out so I have resorted to tape so I don't keep running it over! Otherwise it's as good as my old dyson animal but a lot less weighy
