Product Description

Product Description

Panasonic NA30
A total of four speakers deliver powerful dynamic sound.

Panasonic SC-HTE80EB-S/K Wireless Speakerboard with Bluetooth Wireless Technology

The HTE80 embodies a speaker concept enabling the user to get fuller, more dynamic sound from a flatscreen TV. The "SpeakerBoard" design provides a powerful 120 watt power output with integrated subwoofers and front-facing speakers.

Designed to be positioned directly beneath a TV for simple installation and offering Bluetooth wireless music playback, this neat system will enhance your listening and viewing experience.

Sound quality

Integrated twin subwoofers with aero ports

Powerful, clear, and dynamic bass sounds are achieved by including not one but two subwoofers within the body of the HTE80. Front-facing speakers and aero stream ports tune the sound and channel it to help fill the room.

Panasonic NA30
Dialogue is lifted to the centre of the screen.
Clear-mode dialogue and dialogue level control

By expanding the sound field in the upper front area of the TV screen, clear-mode dialogue gives the sound greater depth. It lifts the voices, making them sound like they're coming from the centre of the screen.

Dialogue volume is also adjustable to four levels; this function is great for when dialogue is drowned out by the other sounds and is difficult to hear.

Auto gain control

It can be annoying when the adverts come on in between programmes and the volume is much louder. Panasonic employ an auto gain control that makes automatic volume adjustment between movie and adverts for a much calmer viewing experience without the peaks in sound level.

Panasonic NA30
Select preset sounds to suit the listening content.
H.Bass for dynamic bass sound

Powerful sound processing technology is used to add harmonic bass to low-frequency audio signals. This reproduces deep, powerful bass sound that wasn't previously possible with compact speakers.

Six preset sound modes

Standard, Stadium, Music, Cinema, News, and Stereo sound modes are available for your selection. By using preset equaliser adjustments for each mode, this function reproduces the true sound of specific scenes by emphasising or reducing overtones, harmonics, or noise.

Panasonic NA30
Pair your Bluetooth device for high-quality music listening.

Smart networking

Wireless audio streaming with Bluetooth

All sorts of audio, including music, sound better when played through good quality speakers. The wireless Bluetooth capability of the HTE80 means not just TV sound but music from any Bluetooth-equipped device (tablet, smartphone, etc.) can be paired, allowing you to enjoy your entire music collection with powerful sound.

NFC – one-touch wireless connection

Near Field Communication provides easy Bluetooth connection between Panasonic and compatible Android smartphones (requires Android OS version 2.3.3 or later and installation of the free Panasonic Music Streaming app). With NFC activated on your phone, you only have to touch the devices together to automatically enable Bluetooth pairing and music playback.

Ease of use

VIERA Link lets you operate multiple Panasonic products with a single VIERA TV remote control. Connection is made via HDMI cable, enabling compatible products to communicate with one another. With VIERA Link, there's no need to juggle multiple remote controls when all you need is just one.

HDMI and auxiliary RCA inputs

In addition to HDMI, both digital optical audio (SPDIF) and analogue RCA audio (phono) inputs are provided to allow flexibility when wiring additional products such as a DVD player or a set top Box.

ARC (audio return channel)

This Panasonic sound system is compatible with HDMI audio return channel. ARC makes it possible to play TV sound through the system speakers without having to run an extra audio cable. With just one HDMI cable connected, audio and video signals are sent to the TV as well as audio being sent back from the TV.

Panasonic NA30
Easy to position compact design for below-TV mounting.
Full HD 3D signal pass-through

3D signal pass-through is supported when connected to a compatible 3D television. This means only one HDMI cable is required from a 3D Blu-ray player to the system, and one HDMI cable from the system to the TV.

Flat and compact design

At 460 mm wide and only 60 mm high, the elegant design of the HTE80 can easily be positioned on a shelf below your TV. It even has a scratch-resistant top lid enabling an appropriately sized TV to stand directly on top of it (maximum recommended weight loading 30 kg).

A very smart-looking piece of kit, fits very nicely under my Panasonic TV. Obviously the sound is very much a case of what appeals to the listener but there are an excellent array of sound types to chose from (cinema, stadium etc.). Very easy to set up and works well with Viera link.
The two built-in subwoofers are quite powerful (much to my wife's disgust!) but can be altered on a scale of 1 to 4 to suit as can certain other sound settings. This is an ideal product for those who do not want to turn their living rooms into a sound studio but want to add some extra depth and clarity to both their TV and DVD player sound. Excellent!

I am quite choosy when it comes to home cinema and sounds but have been mightily impressed with this relatively inexpensive "sound-plate". It fits beautifully under a recently purchased 32" Panasonic LCD screen. Plug and Play set up with use of a HDMI cable plugged in to the ARC (Audio Return Channel) HDMI sockets on both the TV and the Soundbar. Then it automatically turns on or off with the TV remote so no need to use the one supplied with the Soundbar.
You will tend to use the small sound bar remote during set up though and to tweak the sounds to how you like them.Plenty of options are given to increase/decrease the base, adjust dialogue/speech and plenty of presets for a type of sound you want. I found that I prefer the "Cinema" setting for watching the TV. I do feel however that speech can still sound a little "nasal" but where you really gain is with the mid tones and base response and a wider sound stage so a big overall improvement over the rather "thin" sounding inbuilt TV speakers.
Where I am REALLY impressed is with the Bluetooth pairing and audio use with my iPhone and iPad. It streams the music seamlessly and sounds fantastic for such a small speaker( without a separate floor standing subwoofer unit). And no drop-outs in the sound! Fantastic really! More expensive competitors do not even have this function!
Make sure you have a HDMI lead as this is not supplied (you can purchase an excellent but cheap one on this very site!) but I tried it with the optical audio cable to begin with and it still sounded fantastic, but then you have to use 2 remotes (the TV one and the sound bar one) to control both units which is more hassle.

This Speakerboard is a perfect size to sit under my Panasonic TV's stand. It connects to the TV and to my Panasonic Freeview Recorder/Bluetooth player. The Player connects only to the Soundboard via HDMI & does not need another one to the TV.

The TV remote controls the volume and if you want to change the pre-set sound (movie, voice, music etc) you can use the little remote which is supplied.

We used to have a surround sound system. Great but lots of wires. This gives just as good main sound but does not have the incidental noises from the side or behind which used to annoy me anyway. Volume is VERY LOUD. We have a large lounge, dining room through kitchen & it fills the space.

Easy to set up. Works and does not take up much space. Nice bass sounds & floor shaking sub woofers.

I can't recommend this enough if you want a smile sound system to enhance your TV especially if you already have Panasonic kit. It's expensive compared to some sound bars but worth it in my opinion.

I have had the Speakerboard for about a week.

I suspect many people will want to know whether this Panasonic works as a budget-conscious fix for the lack of bass coming from their TV's integral speakers. The answer depends for the most part on room size. If the room is bigger than 14' by 12' then I'd suggest upping your budget by at least another £100 and looking for something that can physically shift more air. Otherwise, I'd say you're in luck. Position the Panasonic sensibly (mine is sitting on top of a corner unit, directly beneath a Sony 2010 TV and some 2'6" above the floor) and it can push out way more low frequency noise than you'd expect from a box this slim - albeit materially less than you'd experience from a separate subwoofer.

Where the unit really scores, however, is in the balance of the sound. Mid and higher frequencies are as tight or tighter than any other product I could find at around £150. Several of the sound processing settings are genuinely useful (I tend to stick to 'music' or 'cinema' modes) and the harmonic bass feature can significant lower frequency punch without doing much damage to the rest of a soundtrack. Even better, it steps up another gear when fed a DTS soundtrack from a Panasonic BluRay player. While it can hardly claim to produce genuine surround sound, it produces a surprisingly passable impression for a viewer sat squarely in front of it.

If there's a negative it's the NFC / Bluetooth implementation and the Panasonic app the company suggests you use to link up a smartphone. I found it a little hit and miss.

This speakerboard really does replace the reedy sound produced by the tiny speakers in modern thin profile televisions with warm wide-spectrum sound. Despite having only small speakers itself and no separate boom-box it manages to produce remarkably rich and strong base. Of course it's not a home cinema system and can't produce surround-sound and the stereo effect is limited.

It's solidly constructed to allow the television to stand directly on it and looks good. if used with a VIERA linked Panasonic set, there's the added advantage that it is controlled, via the hdmi lead, by the television so that the soundboard's remote control is only needed for the initial setup. Although the 'out of the box' initial settings are ok, it is worth playing with the settings to suit your personal preferences. The user instructions are simple and informative.

As previously mentioned, it can't compete with a full home cinema system. But it gives perfectly good sound for every-day viewing of TV and films in a compact and easy to use package and, in my opinion, is excellent value for money. I recommend this product.
