The RP-HC150 Monitor Headphones with 75% noise reduction of environment noise. The convenient travel-fold design ensures maximum portability. With up to 54 hours of battery life on one AAA alkaline battery, reducing the need to carry spares. As surrounding noise is captured by the microphone, the electronic circuitry generates a signal of the opposite phase which causes destructive interference to occur, that is to say, a sound wave is generated with opposite amplitude and the signals cancel. The sound with the reversed phase is emitted by the driver and cancels out the noise as it enters the ear.
Noise is kept low at the ear, making it possible to enjoy music without raising the volume unnecessarily These headphones are designed to attenuate low frequency inconsonant noise of 1,500 Hz or less.
These noise cancelling headphones do not have great effect on relatively high frequency components such as automobile horns, telephone rings or the human voice.
Top customer reviews
They get one star because as headphones, they are quite good but as noise cancelling headphones they are hopeless, in fact they amplify the low roar of the engines. They worked better with the noise cancelling switched off. See other reviews.
Having bought them in USA, I hope I can get my money back!
You can't use the active noise cancelling when outside as the slightest breeze overwhelms the microphones and creates the roaring noise again.
I'm no hi-fi expert, but the sound quality is considerably lower than the in ear plugs that came with my sony MP3 player. The sound quality is diminished further and bass almost dissapears when the active noise cancelling is turned off.
I have to be fair. I did find them useful with noise cancelling turned on when I visited an art gallery - it was pretty good at cutting out the sound of other people moving around and talking.
If they break - I won't replace them
Panasonic - if this review isn't fair or you think my phones are faulty. Feel free to get in touch
To summarize, I think that if you want effective noise cancelling headphones, you need to spend a significant amount of money, else you risk being left with primitive buzzing headphones labelled 'noise cancelling'.
