Panasonic NN-CT878SBPQ 32 Litre 1000 watt Combination Microwave Oven, Stainle
The Panasonic Dimension 4 Microwave oven offers the ultimate in cooking performance. It combines the efficiency of a microwave with the traditional browning and roasting from a conventional oven and grill.
Special attention is given to ease of use and ease of cleaning. This Dimension 4 oven from Panasonic offers a full temperature range 40, 100-250 degrees celsius, which ensures success when cooking anything from meringues and pastries to Yorkshire puddings and roast joints. In addition, the Turbobake program combines the convection oven and grill to give extra crisping and browning to food, such as pizzas, while significantly reducing the cooking time.
Combination cooking offers lots of benefits and can reduce cooking times by half to two thirds, depending on the food. It will give a traditional finish like an ordinary oven.
When using convection mode, the two shelves provide all the versatility of a traditional oven, which is perfect for batch baking or cooking large dishes of food that would not normally fit on the turntable. There is a powerful 1.5 KW radiant grill recessed in the roof and has three variable settings. No cleaning is required as there is a self clean catalytic liner above. A unique Panasonic auto sensor programs will automatically calculate the cooking time for you. There is no need to enter the power, time or weight - just select the food and press start. This Panasonic oven has an enamel lining, which is very hard wearing, easy to clean and will not discolour.See all Product description

We had previously used a Dimension 4 microwave for years from Panasonic, but noticed their build quality has deteriorated considerably and we would not purchase another from the same manufacturer. The problem is that most of the components these days come from China where labour and materials are of course much cheaper but they tend to be of inferior quality. Manufacturers tend to purchase these components knowing they have a shorter lifespan. Who would want to sell a microwave that will last for ten years which means of course you lost on sales this way.
Beware anyone who purchases, always buy from a good retailer who will give you an honest report on the reliability of the machines they sell (such as John Lewis).
I had a look at some of the other Dimension 4 units in Comet and to me they all seem to built to a very poor standard. Just typical of everything, that is built these days. There is also a warning on Panasonics web site about the autocook/defrost feature, aparently, it dosn,t cook the food properly, just how long have Panasonic been making microwave ovens ?.This unit has been returned to Comet for a refund and e-mails are being sent to Panasonic and Comets head office,s. Don,t buy this oven.
IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING
Panasonic Combination Ovens - NN-CT878SBPQ, NN-CT867MBPQ, NN-CT857WBPQ
These models feature Auto Sensor cooking programs. We have become aware of a performance issue related to this program for cooking Whole Chicken. Please note that there are no issues when using any other Auto sensor program on these ovens.
If you are experiencing inconsistent results however using the auto sensor whole chicken program and believe that the chicken requires additional cooking time then we advise you to follow the procedure detailed below;
a) Set to Combination mode
b) Set Convection to 190ºC
c) Set Microwave to Simmer
d) Set Time to 10 minutes
I discovered this warning after buying this machine and 'under'cooking my first whole chicken, despite selecting [Chicken] [More] [Start]
I tried the above advice but used medium microowave rather than simmer, and the chicken still has red blood visible near the bone on carving.
Bottom line, undercooking chicken is dangerous.
There is no fix available (which would probably require a new controller board or at least a new EEPROM).
It is difficult to understand why these units have not been reclaled or at least sales halted.
This is a Sensor cook microwave the Smartest of Panasonics Range, Bizarrely some of the cheaper and older sensorcook machines do not suffer this problem. The alternative option is their Autoweight range that requuire both food type and weight to be manually entered. The little extra effort is well worth having your chicken cooked properly in my opnion.
I hope its not too late to exchange my unit for a different model that works safely
