The HTX7 appeals to all generations of music fans with its retro design and modern technology. These closed headphones block out background noises so you can truly immerse into your music wherever you are. Enjoy the luxurious soft ear pads and lightweight band making the HTX7 headphones comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Equally the single sided cord and one side monitoring system improves comfort and mobility.
Not only do these headphones look great but underneath the vintage design is high-end technology. Featuring a neodymium magnet which has 8 times stronger magnet power than ordinary ferrite magnets, HTX7 realise higher sensitivity and wide frequency response. The XBS port enhancer lowers the frequency response and C.C.A.W. voice coil reproduces powerful bass, and detailed clear treble. The gold plated plug is rustproof and ensure minimal contact loss.
High quality Panasonic headphones, featuring classic retro style with adjustable housing. The 1.2m cord is suitable for outdoor use.

I have four sets of headphones, all for different functions. I have a Sony on-ear set, connected to my speaker system on my desktop PC, A Bowes and Wilkins P7 set for my Personal player and a set of Technics RP-F200 for late night TV watching which are plugged into my Denon surround system. This Panasonic set are to replace the Technics, as the ear pads are deteriorating.
As good as anything that you could expect for £40.
I find them light and easy on the ears and I experience no discomfort when wearing them for a couple of hours. In fact they are more comfortable than my P7s that cost around £300.
This is where it becomes very subjective. Compared to all my other sets, I find the base very boomy and on some occasions masks out much of the other frequencies. I used the track ‘Somewhere’ from the Barbra Streisand’s Broadway album as a test for this. Of course if you like a lot of deep base then this will, literally, be music to your ears. However when the base is absent the rest of the range is quite acceptable and in my case does the job of watching films and other general TV very well.
I would be cautious about buying these for those of you who would describe themselves as audiophiles as you will hear the flaws in the base spectrum and the lack of separation immediately. If you just want to listen to music on your personal player, they will also serve well, as long as you are not expecting faithful sound replication. They are perfect for any PC sound system or plugged into your TV. If you are looking for more than this in a set of headphones for a similar budget then try and go to a pair of Sennheiser HD205. Momentums (2.0) or HD518s.
These Panasonic headphones have been reviewed quite well so thought I would give them a shot. I'm very impressed with the sound quality, lots of depth without lacking presence. You really get that "in the room feel" that a good pair of headphones should give. I'd be hesitant to say they sound better than the 215's because its been a few weeks since they broke and my memory isn't perfect. But they are certainly comparable. The sound is very good and for me they are reasonably comfortable.
The build quality however seems quite cheap, they have a very plastic (almost disposable?) feel to them. That's not to say they will fall apart, they just feel a little flimsy. The cable is only 1.2m and intended for portable use, so you will need to get an extension cable if you use it for your TV. The cable is also permanently attached. With my 215's and most good studio headphones the cable is detachable which is good because with excessive use cable wear can result in a crackling sound. Its much easier to replace the cable than the headphones themselves.
Ultimately the sound is great and they're reasonably comfortable, I'd be surprised if you could find anything significantly better for £40.
1- The sounds is exquisite. Most headphones promote the bass and having listened to quite a few, boy do they have bass, far too much bass, all you can hear is bass. These don't. The bass is there, but it is delicately refined. If you want more bass then all you need to do is turn up the volume a notch and it kicks in a little more. The sound is not stuffy, or muffled, but is clear and extremely well defined.
a- Vocal. Ok most of you probably won't use these to listen to vocal but I listen to lectures quite a lot. These headphones bring out questions from the students that I never knew existed as my previous headphones and the car speakers hid them in the background.
b- Dance music. Wow, this is the format that really brings the headphones to life. Clear, defined, bass pounding (if you turn the volume up) wonderful vocals.
c- Rock music. Not quite as good as dance but still a pretty amazing full on sound.
d- Classical. This is where they fall down slightly. There seems to be too much middle range which doesn't seem to be a problem with any other listening style and it makes the music sound slightly flat.
2- Comfort. As they cover the entire ear, there is little or no pressure on your ear at all. I wear glasses and the pads seem to mould around my glasses and even hold them in place which is an added bonus. I have worn these for up to an hour with no problems of them getting too tight or becoming uncomfortable. The only slight gripe, which is quite common amongst this type of design, is that they make your ears quite hot and sweaty, but that's a small price to pay.
3- Exercise. I wear these to jog and they fit so snugly that they don't move an inch. I wear these when dancing like a maniac at home (it's all about keeping fit) and again, they don't budget and stay firmly but comfortably in place.
These are all pretty small but worth mentioning.
1- The cord is very long and sometimes gets in the way. I guess that for some of you, this would be a pro!
2- The connection is quite long which means that they add a few inches to the length of my phone. This isn't a problem as such, but it means that it sometimes pokes out of my shirt pocket.
3- Aforementioned classical music isn't as crystal clear as it perhaps could be.
4- They are large, so when I do go out jogging with them on, there is no hiding the fact that I am wearing a large pair of cream headphones. They are not subtle in that respect, but in a way, that's kind of the point of them and they are not as heavy as smaller designs (153g v.s AKG Y 50 195g).
For the money they are fantastic. For three times the money they are the best pair of headphones out there. I tried many pairs on in the shops and it wasn't until I got to £120 BOSE that the quality, without the huge bass, equalled these. They are a real hidden gem and 4 months down the line I am confident that I definitely made the right choice.
