Manufacturer's Description

Panasonic LUMIX G Micro System Digital Camera GH2 - Creative Machine with Full-HD Movie and High-speed Response

The high speed Live MOS Sensor realizes burst shooting in 16.05-megapixel full resolution at 5 fps with mechanical shutter and up to 40 fps (4-megapixel recording mode). This is coupled with a fast, accurate Light Speed AF system. The GH2 employs an 18.31 megapixel sensor but typically uses about a 16.05-megapixel area making it possible to give three aspect ratios – 16:9, 3:2, and 4:3 – with the same angle of view.

The GH2 is capable of recording high-resolution full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 50i movies in the AVCHD format. Sensor output is 50p and high quality sound can also be recorded with Dolby Digital Stereo Creator. In addition, the GH2 has a wide range of movie modes including Manual, 24P Cinema Mode with 23Mbps, Variable Movie Mode and iA Mode. When connected to a Panasonic VIERA television via an optional mini HDMI cable, the TV's remote control unit can be used to control playback for greater convenience.

The GH2 features a touchscreen which can also control shooting. While shooting, touching the desired part of the screen will automatically set focus to this point and release the shutter at the same time. While playing back, you can quickly select an image to view by scrolling through images using the touchscreen. The 3.0-inch 460,000-dot free-angle LCD with touch operation makes both monitoring and shooting comfortable in almost any position.

The Color and Film Modes on offer make it easy to customise colour effects to match your preference or shooting requirements.

When you want to take things easy, setting the camera in the iA Mode employs a combination of functions that makes it easy for anyone to capture beautiful photos and movies.

Stunning HD Video on a full HD screen as well as HD ready. Great compact size for what it does and very pleased with the stills. Great combination to use for a holiday no longer need to take two cameras. Recently bought the F1.7 pancake lens which is great for multi-use as well as taking great night time pics. I have never used a camera as much as this - its such good fun.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2K Digital Camera with 14-140mm Lens Kit - BlackThis is a superb camera that fills my needs for video as well as stills photography. Until now I have used a Panasonic camcorder for video and a mixture of DSLR and compact cameras for normal photographs. I wanted a camera that would provide the best possible video capability. I have briefly used conventional DSLRs which require the 'live view' function for video. They are far too clunky, with very poor focus capability in the 'live view' mode, and any lens adjustments sounds are picked up by the inbuilt mike. The 14-140mm Panasonic lens is specifically built to overcome this problem, and the focus is very fast. The availability of a high-quality electronic viewfinder, plus the fold-out screen (touch-sensitive) for shots at high and low angles, are features that I find invaluable.
No doubt in my mind that this is the leader in the field at the moment, and it has the added bonus of being reasonably light to carry.
Finally, superb delivery service from Amazon.

I read a lot of reviews before I bought the camera because spending this sort of money you want it to be right for you, It had been a long while since I have used an SLR camera but it soon comes back to you, having to zoom in and out by twisting the lens and on this camera it feels good, Its a well made product everthing clicks and moves nice and easy, The 16m pixel makes fantastic quality photos very crisp lines and details even when you zoom in on the pictures, I have had video camera's before and the quality of film from this is second to none, This a good camera for the beginner or someone with a bit more knowledge and wants to do more with their photos, The only down side at the moment is that you can't get hold of a spare Panasonic battery so if your going out for a long days shoot you could run out of power and think of the space you will need to keep all of your photos and movies with 16m pixels and high quality film it takes a lot of space, I would recommend this camera and if you can afford the 14-140mm lens go for it.

I have been an user of Nikon D90 and recently bought a Panasonc GH2 + 14-140 lens.
Pros of the GH2:
- It is smaller, mainly less weigh to carry, also the lens size is easier to carry.
- Good electronic viewfinder.
- Video image stabilization.
- No image distortion, because it is corrected by software automatically. This was a real problem with my Nikon zoom lens (18-105) at wideangle.
Cons of the GH2:
- JPEGs color frequently dissapointing. Must process RAW files to get better images.
- I have big hands, and I feel less confortable holding the GH2 than the D90.
- LCD screen with less resolution than D90.
- Less battery life.
- Easier to change inadvertedly from autofocus to manual focus.

Colour Name: BlackSize: 14-42mm Lens Kit
I bought this camera with the intention of using it as a film camera for small scale productions such as music videos and short films, and occasionally using it as a stills camera as well. After a fair bit of research into choices of lenses I decided that the Micro FourThirds mount offered the greatest amount of flexibility out of the main choices (the other being a Canon EF mount system) as well as the ability to adapt the lenses I already possessed from my previous camera, an Olympus E-410. The GH2 is being marketed as a camera designed for video, with a multitude of options and settings that suit the needs of D-SLR filmmakers and indeed it does, for the most part. It's portability and form factor are unmatched in comparison to other D-SLRs with similar features, which make it ideally suited for 'guerilla' shooting where gear is limited.

The GH2 will shoot in 1080p at 24fps and 1080i 60 or 50fps in AVCHD video as well as 720p at 30fps in Motion JPEG format, which is fine for NTSC video regions, however conspicuously lacking from these options is any coverage for 25fps, i.e. PAL video, the European and UK standard for video. This does not leave very many options for people like myself who need to deliver content in 25p. You can either try and de-interlace 50i footage, which can be a nightmare, or conform 24p video shot with the camera to 25p for editing, however while this 4% change in overall speed does not affect the video greatly, a 4% increase in speed of audio (which also has to be sped up to match) can seriously distort the audio, again making it a nightmare. I honestly cannot fathom Panasonic's decision not to include 25p in this camera, other than to try and push filmmakers that have 25p requirements towards their new AF101 professional camcorder, which costs over £4000.

Bought the GH2 mainly for video shooting, and as a backup for an Olympus DSLR (may use an existing range of 4/3 oly lenses on both bodies).
Likes:
- video capabilities
- lots of manual settings available
- huge option of quality legacy lenses available via mount adapters
- compact size
- quality swivel/touch screen LCD

Not so good:
- build quality not as expected (cheap feeling plastic body)
- electronic viewfinder (although very good comparing with other EVFs out there, still way behind a good optical viewfinder)
- tiny focusing selection switch (MF/AFC/AFS) on the top left dial, difficult to operate.
