I bought this solely for watching Youtube videos & for the fact that it allegedly plays files from hard drives up to 2 TB.

Watching Youtube vids is fine if you use the annoying on screen search and enter a letter at a time from the single line of letters - which is irritating. When you watch a video there is basically no search fast forward or rewind function - well, there is - it will "fast forward" in annoying 10 second intervals!!

However you can attach your Android device and pair it so you can use the search on that. The problem is that the videos do not playback correctly, constantly repeating the last 10 seconds every minute or 2.

Miracast - I haven't got this to work even though it is visible it just doesn't connect for whatever reason.

Playing back files from a HD is an issue too. It says it will play up to 2 TB hard drives. However when I connect my 1TB HD and go to play videos it says that there are too many - over 50 and won't recognise them all.

Also it will not even recognise sub folders. When you do get a video to play it is actually a good interface and FFD and REV work quite well and go through the video quickly.

I am in 2 minds as to whether I will return this as it really isn't as described or fit for purpose. It also has Netflix & iPlayer - neither of which I have tried so may be good for them.

Panasonic could fix these bugs with a simple firmware update but judging by other comments doesn't seem like they are bothered.

I paid £29.99 for this and that is overpriced for what it does. If they fix the bugs then it would be great.

***Edit 30 October. Miracast and iPlayer don't work on mine - AT ALL!

I purchased this a week ago and first impressions were good.

It connected to wifi no bother and immediately offered me a firmware upgrade which installed no problem.

HOWEVER - when I connected my 2tb drive, it said it would not show all folders / files as number had been exceeded!

Admittedly I do have thousands of files, but the drive plays on every other box / tv I've got - including my Panasonic 50st50 internal media player!

Contacted customer support who, while helpful, were no help at all. They did not know of this problem.

I've tried it on a smaller 500gb drive with obviously far fewer folders / files - same thing..

I regret to say it, but do not buy this streamer. it has a fault that Panasonic don't know about (well they know about it now!)

Oh, the streaming was fine by the way....

****Note to amazon staff who usually delete links in reviews.**** I have put links so that people know what a great device this is and they can learn more about what miracast can do for you. Amazon is usually fast on deleting links but poor on actually informing the great features of devices and even when i have previously put links on other miracast devices like the netgear PTV3000 that i have reviewed here and LG bluray player BDP730 I put links so that people enjoy a great miracast device. Loads of people return devices because they dont know how to use the features like miracast. My miracast videos on youtube have had more than 50,000 views so i know what i am talking about miracast devices. Kindly keep the links so that users can learn more about the features not commonly reviewed by others so that amazon and other sellers on amazon can actually sell more by helping customers use the miracast features better! Thank you.****

Wait for best price. Immediately after i bought two of these amazon increased the price from £30 to £62 and later came back to £30 in a couple of days, so buy at lower price as price keeps yoyoing! Amazon usa is $30 with loads of crap reviews but ignore the poor reviews if you want to enjoy this great miracast device. THERE IS NO CHEAPER MIRACAST DEVICE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD AND I HAVE LOOKED FOR MONTHS AND HAVE SEVERAL MIRACAST DEVICES. A CHEAPER $10 miracast dongle might come soon but this has more features.

If you want Miracast cheaper than chromecast (on amazon usa it is $29.99, I bought two of these a couple of days ago on amazon UK for £30) + DLNA + streamer (net + network) + USB hard drive support + Portable then THIS IS IT! Buy it for the miracast alone and you wont be disappointed. I bought two!

Played neflix just fine, but then I tried to set up the tv volume control before I found out it only supported Panasonic TVs. Every time I press any button I get the message "Remote Control 6", and was not able to do anything.

The fix was:
The remote control and this unit are using
different codes. Turn on this unit by using the
standby/on switch on this unit, and check
"Remote control ", which is displayed on the
screen when you press a button on the
remote control. Press and hold [OK] and the
displayed number ("") for more than
5 seconds.

That all aside - I have yet to get miracast working with 3 sufficiently updated nexus (galaxy nexus/Nexus 5/Nexus 7) on a wireless and one with this box wired. Given I largely purchased this for that feature - I flunk it. I will update this review if I figure out what is the issue.

Edit: Managed to get Miracast working - but doesn't work on all 4.2.?+devices for example, this will not work with a Galaxy Nexus.

Have managed to get it working on other devices, but you have to select network settings, wifi direct... and in display settings have wireless displays set to on.

Never managed to play anything with iplayer. Netflix is passable.
