The Plob books are nothing like any comedy fantasy I have read before. Plob is a wizard in training and really can do magic, his master is even more powerful. The dragons really do fly and spit fire, the warriors really can fight, the maidens are all beautiful and have proper personalities, the evil characters really are merciless, cruel and, err, evil. Just like any other fantasy book. Now imagine the story as it might be told by a stand-up comic on a boozy Saturday night in your local pub, with constant asides, characters and places with silly names, lashings of toilet humour. Now you've got some idea what the Plob trilogy is like. But only some idea, you have to experience it to understand it. I'm glad I did!

and having finished the first, was easily pleased to be able to continue the saga at the press of a page button.
I did laugh openly at some points and was relieved to find, when looking around, I was at home and not in a Doctors waiting room surrounded by people to Ill to have humour.

Plob is great. Biggest is better. But the pick of comedy heroes must be - Stanley. No spoiler alerts here, so I won't tell you who is who and why. But trust me...this is comic gold. Not only is the genre itself pulled apart with vigour, so are current day politics, political awareness and...ummm...other things. Buy it, read it and read it some more...it's quite long - over six hundred pages.

You would be much better off going for a walk. Start a new hobby, go to evening classes, do a crossword.

Whatever, don't waste your time picking up this book. A series of clichés strung together with words does not constitute creative writing.

Humor here, humor there, humor everywhere!

These books were spectacular, a right gag-a-minute fest. But it wasn't all, 'nurse-nurse' there was a lot of skillful wordplay and social commentary as well.

I recommend this to all fans of Pratchett, Tom Holt, Rankin and Douglas Adams. Clever, well thought out comedy and well deserving of all of its awards.

An extraordinary reading experience that has you in fits of laughter, of which will also stretch your mind beyond your wildest imagination as you follow the author's brilliant plot, of which is mesmerizing amusing, unpredictable and dare I even say somewhat crazy and wacky at some times, but in an extremely good way, because it keeps the reader enticed and guessing what will happen next.

The characters are well developed, original and quirky in a way that is unusual, peculiar yet simultaneously so adorable. I've personally not had such a good laugh from reading a book for a very long while, and this one was totally and thoroughly entertaining right from the very first page.

Humour abounds in these this omnibus of comedy and fantasy. Zerf almost overplays his hand at times and you feel as though you are about to go under. Drowning in a swamp of double entendre, puns and witticisms. But just when you are struggling to catch your breath he throws you a lifeline in the form of some insightful quip or quotable slice of wisdom. This is a very well crafted raft of comedy and those who say otherwise obviously are too shallow to get the depth of the humour. Trust me – if you like your comedy to have a satirical bite then Plob is for you.

Knockout humour from the king of the fantasy comedy genre. Little wonder that Plob won the BBC vote and the Golgonooza award. This is funny man Craig Zerf at his very best. I have actually seen him speak before at the Barclay's Story Festival in London and he was funny there even though the subject that he spoke about was very serious.. He has a unique way of looking at life from a slightly skewed angle that leaves you feeling a little out of kilter. A big man with an even bigger sense of humour, he is a little like the travelling bards of old. A man with sword and lute travelling the badlands and bring entertainment wherever he goes. These books are a real treat and for this price it as almost criminal not to buy them.
